Strange occurrence...earlier I was on my Asus EEE, and every time I tried to log in to Metafilter it would flash the login page quickly and then jump me back to where I was before that. No other sites had any issues, and restarting the browser didn't help. Did anyone else experience this? [more inside]

music problem: 50% of the time I try to upload a standard MP3 (ID3 v2.2), I get the following error: The MIME type of the uploaded file "application/x-octet-stream" was not accepted by the server.

I'm on an imac (os9) and whenever I open the comments section from the front page all I get is a long single line of text in the middle of the page. I tried monkeying with the cookies and it seemed to help, but I'm not sure which cookie controls the text for comments page. And the machine gives me all kinds of grief when I refuse cookies.

The Wiki/FAQ has been pornified. I'd revert it to a previous version but I can't seem to figure out how. Could someone who knows how this stuff works please revert it and then let us know how it's done? (AskMe or Meta, when in doubt take it to Meta)

Since I'm able to post this, I have to assume I have not been banned from Metafilter. And yet, using IE for Mac Classic, I cannot post on Metafilter.

There appears to be some serious bad juju going on out on the net. Yahoo, for example, has been wiped off the map. It appears to have had its IP address wiped off all the root name servers. I've tried traceroutes from six different places around the globe, and nslookups from a several servers, and they're all like, "Ya-Who?" Plus all lookups for all sites on my local DNS server have become snail-slow. Anyone know more about what's up?
