Hoping to avoid a derail
In the recent Archer thread, the following exchange took place:

Metafilter Scholarship?
Was there discussion at one point about establishing a metafilter academic scholarship? I seem to remember this, but could be making it up. Seems like a great idea to me, and I'd kick in.

Award for Mefite Genius?
How about if the Metafilter Scholarship be used as an award for a project by a Mefite they can present publicly at the big 10th anniversary event? The winner could be chosen by how many times their presentation is favorited as a live event being posted on Metatalk because it's related. [more inside]

I'm rescinding my offer to contribute to the Metafilter scholarship. I don't like the direction in which the site is going, and I won't be participating any longer. I would email Matt directly, but I made the offer in open forum, so I feel it's only fair to withdraw it here as well. I promise not to let the door hit me in the ass on the way out.

Scholarship competition: followup needed
So, when will we hear the results of the scholarship competition? My understanding is that the most-vote-getter wins, but I was expecting a sidebar link about it, if not a ticker-tape parade, at least !
Scholarship voting problem
I voted for all of the essays, but when I went to check my votes with the provided link, it claimed I had not voted for any essays. Is the problem a bug or just me?

Time to vote on those crazy scholarship kids. It's been tested on IE 5 and NN 4, on a PC and a Mac and seems to work. I took great pains to make it hack proof, so it's as fair as possible. If anyone finds anything wrong, post it here, or email me about it.

What's the status of the MeFi scholarship? Did I miss the judging?
The scholarship link buttons seem to have disappeared
It's the Case of the Missing Buttons! I could just be going blind or crazy or something, but the scholarship link buttons seem to have disappeared from both the link on my website and the scholarship page itself.
Error with the MeFi scholarship link in Opera.
Opera5 shows the "MetaFilter college scholarship" as an off yellow link but it's not clickable. After a quick glance at the HTML it seems Opera doesn't like the negative value, "margin-top:-20px". It looks like there's an unclosed DIV tag around that area too, well, maybe.

Matt, you rock. Thanks for everything. I'm sure that someone will be quite happy to receive the scholarship, and furthermore, for their education to be subsidized by Metafilter. What a cool idea.
