Not Important Just Expression: I just have to say that I love metafilter. I have been aided in so many ways for years, by this wonderful place. I don't know when I started, but I know it carried me through 9-11 for example. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the founders and maintainers, for the ethic and for helping us maintain the spirit. I thank each and every one of you.

Metafilterites rock. After posting this, I not only received a great number of helpful suggestions, but in my inbox today found a number of emails offering donations totaling to well, well, well over the amount of money I spent on the puppy. Unbeknownst to me my RL friends have also been holding a collection, so today has been a wonderful reminder of the generosity of friends and strangers and how awesome people are in general. In amongst all the sniping and callouts I just wanted to interject that I find MetaFilter and AskMe on balance a very worthwhile place. Things can be frustrating sometimes in some of the more contentious posts, but this place has been a wellspring of information and thought.
