For obvious reasons the "upcoming meetups" sidebar is starting to look empty and lonely. May we have the confirmed meetups posted to the sidebar? [more inside]

On the Upcoming Meetups sidebar in both FF2.11 and IE7, the Feb 8: Chapel Hill, NC post appears twice though I'm imagining it shouldn't.

After seeing people post and repost meetup reminders, I finally figured out a way to fix it. On the front page sidebar, you should see a simple list of upcoming meetups. Details about how it works are inside...

MetaFilter gatherings are common, and often planned weeks in advance. In that amount of time, the related threads are pushed off the front page. Is there a system we can work out where they become sticky? Maybe be posted on the sidebar until they happen?

Matt. Way to go on the sidebar entries for upcoming MeFi meetups. It's great to know that the editorial stance of Metafilter isn't just about the good ole' U.S. of A., but also includes all those tiny little countries you may have read about in National Geographic.
