Contacts Favorites Bug?

Last Five Favorite posts from ___'s contacts & Last Five Favorite comments from ___'s contacts does not match up with Favorite posts from ___'s contacts & Favorite comments from ___'s contacts. I guess it's vaguely possible that this is because "Last" works on when something was favorited as opposed to when the favorited thing was posted, but the discrepancy is pretty large and I think there's a bug there.

Contact List Formatting

A quick formatting request for the contacts lists: "links to" and "linked by" as vertical lists side by side rather than as blocks of inline text. Also, a little icon to indicate mutual contacts, and a little plus sign to add new non-mutual contacts from the "linked by" list. I have the del.icio.us contacts list in mind.

It's not that I have anything against Squid Voltaire...

Is there some way to have the option of excluding Mefi users' pages from search results? [more inside]

User page changes

I gussied up your user pages. Leave a note if anything is broken and throw a screenshot up on flickr if you spot any show-stopper visual bugs. Danke!

Safari/Firefox on OSX userpage comments discrepancy

My user page lists 347 comments to MetaTalk, but when I click on that 347, I get a display of 1-50 of 432 comments. No similar discrepancy for MetaFilter or AskMetafilter. This as viewed in Safari and Firefox under OSX 10.3.8.

Userpages closed to indexing?

Revisiting this.

Metafilter is the biggest site that I can edit a page (my user page) on. I'd like to have "I am the [my name] that went to so and so school, and so and so high-school and did so-and-so" so that if someone googled my name looking for me, they could find that. However, userpages are marked NOINDEX for robots, for to stop villians from using google to harvest stuff, I assume. Given that it would be trivial to write a script to go through all the user pages and snarf anything, and given that these are The Internets, is there a reasonable expectation that an email address or other information you put on a publicly viewable page will *not* be harvested? Doesn't everyone have a spam-catcher address for this purpose?

Secret Services

Ok, so (in reply to his AskMeFi question) I advised Tlogmer to post his 'new political meme' to his userpage, which he did -- and now I'm alarmed by it, despite his disclaimer. Is Tlogmer's meme going to cause Matt to get a call from the Secret Service (or the DHS?)

Listing links on user profile pages

To avoid cluttering up the front page, is it OK for those of us who come across a lot of interesting links to use our user pages to list some of those we'd like to share but probably won't merit much discussion? I'm worried about using up bandwidth and the old accusation of using MetaFilter as one's personal blog.

If it's OK, what's the acceptable limit? Would five or six links be acceptable? Or should the opportunity be used (as some, like Zachsmind, have done) to list some of our favourite MetaFilter threads, for example? Please advise.

MeTa links on user.mefi/[number] but not username.mefi/[name]

Minor detail: going to user.mefi/[number] you get links to a user's MeTa threads and comments - very useful - but going to username.mefi/[name] you don't.

Bugs on customize?

Bug, ish, maybe? Went to "Customize" just to see why my email address wasn't showing in my profile (probably because I asked it not to and then forgot I'd done that). Anyway, I changed that, and also changed to show the floaty thing just to see what it was; when I saved the changes suddenly it was underlining my links. No big deal, I'm sure. (Matt, do you get a lot of these bugreport type things in MetaTalk? Is this where you want them? I'm not at all sure anyone else would care about this sort of small thing.)
