Is world domination far behind?

And on slashdot, as well.

Matt is really the goto-guy for press treatments of DVR stuff, huh? Not to diminish Matt's expertise or the importance of his DVR blog, but it's a good example of how small the world of talking heads and the like really are. Reporters go to the same people other reporters have gone to.

Man, that guy really likes PVRs.

Yeah, it's pretty much just me for the talking head thing. This was probably the third reporter I talked to this week, but he did get the nuance I was trying to convey; that this was a "burn your tivos!" moment but something more along the lines of "huh, we could be fucked in the future"

Now there's a quote I'd really like to see in the Post.

I saw him in Newsweek today too.... 9/26 issue, if it hasn't been posted here already.

whoa, there's my quote as the title of the newsweek piece. I didn't know this was online.

TiVo: 'What This Uncovered Is Really Scary'

Wow, that is impressive. Doesn't it feel sort of weird? Like you have some nebulous power you can wield? That you're "important" enough to quote in the title of a Newsweek story?
posted by Ethereal Bligh at 2:22 PM on September 22, 2005

It does feel weird, yeah.

Matt: how much time per week would you say you spend on TiVo and PVR-related activities?

I'm not asking to be an asshole or snark or make JRun jokes; rather, I think about my job and all the stuff I do and I wonder: how the fuck does he have time to run MeFi and have a new kid and keep up on PVR developments and diddle with his own PVR and etc etc etc. Because like I don't even have time to run CallParisParamusAButtheadOnMefiBlog. So.

It's only like an hour here and there, like any other hobby.

Uh, I'm pretty sure that's Was (Not Was)

Man, I loved Was (Not Was). I only had "Born to Laugh at Tornados", but I loved that album. I need to get that on digital somehow.

I'm only surprised that the TiVo/DVR media relations people aren't contacting Number 1 as much as the press. Or are they? If I were a TiVo flack, I'd make myself available 24/7: 'Quick, it's the Matt-phone!'

Yeah, an hour in the morning, one in the afternoon, another one in the evening. Oh and maybe another one in the wee hours if the mood strikes.
