I've trained remedial ferrets to make better FPPs.
And linking to the same thing twice doesn't make it less crap.

I only left it up because I didn't know there was a page for most edited articles at wikipedia.

And what do we say when something like this happens? "It's good that Matt did that."
posted by Eideteker at 7:29 PM on November 30, 2005

Yes, it's a very good thing.

And I'm only calling it out because it's a crap link posted twice in one FPP.

Flag it and move on! (I've been trained well)

It's worse because there were two links to it? OK.

The remedial ferrets I've trained can't get past plinking out "Heart and Soul" on the Casio. What am I doing wrong?
(Or does this belong on AskMe?)

"This is a thousand monkeys working at a thousand typewriters. Soon, they'll have written the greatest novel known to mankind." (reads one of the typewriters) "It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times"?! you stupid monkey! (monkey screeches) "Oh, shut up."

Dr. Wu, do you prefer the original Steely Dan version or the classic Minutemen cover?
posted by Falconetti at 9:56 PM on November 30, 2005

Dr. Wu,

Everyone knows that ferrets prefer Scott Joplin.
And you've got to set the Casio sound to "voices."

I think it is interesting to know that there is a link to the most revisions, and basilwhite is right in that these revisions are filled with comedy gold. Compared to some of the other lame posts in the past couple of days, this one isn't so bad.

Duplicate links are dumb, yes. But, as we are frequently reminded, many mefites lack skill and nuance when dealing with the web. And the use of a link in two seperate contexts -- the "URL" form and within the text of the "Description" form -- may strike a novice poster as two legitimately important parts of a post, however misguided that notion is.

Thanks for pointing me to this post Mr. Klangklaker ... whatever.

I found the Wikipedia revision list most entertaining, but your neener-neener callout, considerably less so.

[spoiler]

I liked when Mad-Eye Moody turned Malfoy into a ferret.

That's fine, Dag. Some people also find the Hampster Dance amusing. They're called idiots.

Wow, everyone, my next FPP will be the Recent Changes page ROFL!
(Since it won't be deleted, all I can hope to do is heap the scorn).

And Cortex, I have no problem with the prohibition of posting until people learn how to use the motherfucking HTML at a basic level.

klang, I don't totally disagree. But I think the folks in these parts are ultimately a little more tolerant than that, so you're basically screwed. Sorry as hell about that.
posted by cortex at 6:27 AM on December 1, 2005

Tolerating newbies doesn't exclude ruthlessly making fun of them.

I find this hamster dance hilarious. I hope that doesn't make me an idiot. Please advise.

This is bullshit. How could a ferret, even a highly trained professional one, make quality FPPs? I'll believe it when I see it.

It's not anger it's overcompensation for a small penis.

They're called idiots.

Some people like passing off their own preferences as objective judgements of quality. They're called "people I learn not to pay attention to."

It's a crappy FPP. It would have been good as part of an FPP featuring odd or little-used features of wikipedia.

Klangklanggoesthetrolley, whenever you pull whatever it is you have stuck so far up your ass, could I borrow it for my next science project?

You are using ferrets when you should be using squirrels. Attacking squirrels with an attitude.
