Last 48 hours of MeFi posts are great December 9, 2005 10:48 AM   Subscribe

I just wanted to say that the FPP's of the past 48 hours or so have been of exceptional quality and entertainment. Thanks, all!

No, thank you sourwookie. Thank you.

I agree, there have been some good posts lately. But for the love of god how about some Friday Fun!

Metafilter is ovulating. In 14 days watch for lots of crappy newsfilter posts with surly responses.

Which ones? Why don't you highlight the posts you liked? Don't you realize some of us may have missed all the good posts? Where is your humanity? Who will filter the filter?

I think the Are All Cops Criminals post put a nice end to that streak.

I've got some Friday Fun ready to post, but even though it's been more than 24 hours since my last post, it won't let me. Sigh.

I would like to say that as much as I have admired many of the recent FPPs, my recent FPP is, upon sober second thought, not so hot.

Mildly amusing perhaps, "exceptional quality", not so much. I'll give myself a brief timeout before posting next time.

Ooops, my PC clock was off. Disregard above sigh.

Don't look now, but sourwookie is a jinx!

On the contrary, GuyZero. I think that discussion degraded nicely.

Oh hey, navel gazing. My belly button is an 'outie'.

I spackled, primed, and painted my navel.

not to derail but what's going on here? When I click I get 'non-existent thread' but the link is on the top of ask right now. Was the thread deleted? omidius' plight as piqued my curiosity!

Gator, you're killing me man. I'm at work.
posted by Mr T at 11:39 AM on December 9, 2005

delmoi, there is a short lag between the time an askme post gets deleted and when it disappears from the main askme page because of caching of the main page. I didn't see that post (though I do see the short version of it on the askme page) but I assume mathowie deleted it tout de suite.

Yeah, the post about hilarity that ensued from a headline about Reggie Bush (it could be a joke about the President, get it?) was of exceptional quality and entertainment.
posted by dios at 11:44 AM on December 9, 2005

To be fair, though, there were a great number of posts I enjoyed. In fact, I'd say it more than not. So I agree with the sentiment of your post.

WHERE'S THE SILLY?

Paris Hilton lawn decorations. Not exactly the fat woman mooning you or gnomes, but still very silly.

dios, is there anything else about Metafilter that you don't like? I don't think there has been nearly enough discussion on that topic.
posted by MrMoonPie at 1:52 PM on December 9, 2005

Oh, hush.
posted by cortex at 2:05 PM on December 9, 2005

Gee, I hope everyone piles on dios for saying that he agrees with the sentiment. Because, you know, we don't have nearly enough bullshit flame wars happening in MeTa as it is. We really need them happening in the feel good threads, too.
posted by shmegegge at 5:20 PM on December 9, 2005

shmegegge, did you miss the fact that dios made two comments in this thread? Yes, indeed, he joined in the feel-good tone, but only after reiterating for the who-knows-how-many-goddamned-nth time how lame he felt the Reggie Bush thread was.
posted by MrMoonPie at 8:08 PM on December 9, 2005

At this point, the Reggie Bush thread has generated more discussion than any other FPP I've ever made - and the other ones have been decent, not-so-bad posts. Somehow this is not quite right.
