Ananova news is not the best of the web. October 7, 2001 7:53 AM   Subscribe

Ananova has quirkie news? Is this kind of link worthy of a front page post? I don't think so.

It's a site pretty much everyone knows about and the only comments are insults at the guy who posted it.

Wow, is that ever a dumb idea.

Yeah, it's a lousy link, but - as I posted in the thread - why are people so mean about telling milnak so? How can you expect a member to be respectful of the rules of MeFi, and of MeFi's community, when you show him/her no respect at all?

I think possibly because of the implication. There seems to be a ground swell of people here who believe that some linking to some sites should be off-limits because everyone reads them anyway. Bit not news -- not actually.

I thought the point of Mefi was to offer the best links from sites throughout the web so that people who don't have time to look at everything don't have to. I'm glad that other people go and look at Ananova and The Onion and fish out the real things of note -- I don't see why they should be criticised for doing so.

Oh boo hoo. It was a dumb idea. Milnak is probably a swell guy, but making that post wasn't swell. I didn't say that there was anything wrong with him; just that doing something worse than what you are berating others for doing as a way of setting an example is dumb. And it is.

And quit calling me mean!
