a. It should be 1 through 1
b. There are actually two posts tagged with v., so it should be 1 through 2.
(Yes, this is the most trivial bug ever.)

Why are there any posts tagged with v.?

How do you know there are two posts tagged with v?

There's a post on the front page right now about Roe v. Wade, tagged with "Roe" "v." and "Wade". Which is either a massive conceptual bug in tagging systems in general, or a bug in the guy who posted the thread. See also: the.

Anyway, my actual point here concerns the incorrect count rather than the uselessness of the tag.

I think it's the period that's throwing it off. The other post is tagged "v" without a trailing period.

(and the period is ignored in parsing in the url for the tag page)

Bit of both, I'd've thought. Not counting this place, I use three sites a lot that have tagging features, and all use a different system for tags with more than one word (running words together, quotes around >1 word tags, comma separated tags). Confusing. Presumably once Yahoo! has finished buying up every last site offering tags, it'll get standardised.

jack_mo writes "Presumably once Yahoo! has finished buying up every last site offering tags, it'll get standardised."

It didn't happen in all their mailing list buys so it seems unlikely it'll happen for tag sites.
