Thanks to jperkins for taking the high road.

In a hot political thread that could have devolved badly, kudos to him for reading about the subject with an open mind. Thanks.

It's a sad state we're in if we have to specially commend a member for changing his mind when confronted with contrary evidence. Nonetheless, kudos to jperkins; may you serve as an example.

May his shining example be a beacon of truth to all others who are wrong.

Given the recent epidemic of ridiculing such folks as 'flip-floppers', it is actually surprising to see positive recognition for the act of revising one's stance based on new data. It would have required much less thought and effort to simply 'stay the course'.

Not only is it easier to 'stay the course', but it actually triggers pleasure receptors in the brain (shamelessly re-pimping the subject of my recent FPP). Congratualtions on a victory of cold reason over instinct Mr. Perkins.

In my experience constructive praise has always been far more effective than negative criticism. It's a shame that this doesn't happen more.

Kudos, indeed.

Oh God, now jperkins will make a MeTa post thanking Rothko for being so gracious, linking here. This isn't going to end well.

Get a room you two! And bring duct tape.

There's nothing wrong with being wrong.
Some of my best friends are wrong.

I shouldn't say anything, because I am not familiar with the conversation, but... That's never stopped me before, so...

If I was to accepted that I was wrong on an issue that I argued strenuously about, being singled out with a thread on MetaTalk is the last thing I would want. It almost seems patronizing.

Uh oh, someone else took the high road and you might not like it!

It's been done before (the praise, I mean), in kinder, gentler times.
