Wall-mounted monitor that displays pictures as a slideshow February 6, 2006 10:48 PM   Subscribe

Does anyone remember a thread in AskMe, around the holidays, discussing a wall-mounted monitor-type thingie that allowed you to load it up with your pictures, say from your computer and view them as a slide show? Did I imagine that or did it really occur, and didn't Mathowie even mention a product like that that he knew about? Not knowing what such a thing is called makes it very difficult to Google for it successfully; does anyone have a clue about what I'm trying to find?

It was in MetaTalk. Matt wrote about it in the NYT and on his personal blog.

Say, is there one of these that connects to a flickr feed, Like my awesome flickr feed of my adorable baby? Although, come to think of it, I doubt there's a frame that could contain such cuteness, frequently I have to recalibrate my PC monitor after prolonged viewings...

Thinking about it, that'd be a damn good second monitor. Could put palettes, system stats, crap like that on it. Leave my laptop monitor more open for working use.

Rechargeable? That sucks, it should be on a power cord.

I also posted a link for a DIY version, back in June (if you're so inclined).

Did someone say cute babies?
I have nothing to add, but can't resist a flimsy excuse to post a picture of my son.

1) boo_radley, that's awesome. He's like a tiny drunken irishman. No, scratch that, an ADORABLE tiny drunken irishman.

2) monju, thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for - much obliged!

I posted an AskMe question about filling a square hole in a wall and someone posted a link to the the "Pictureframe PC." It's a DIY project similar to the one in KevinSkomsvold's link, except it uses a mini-ITX board instead of a laptop.

Well, as long as were swapping baby pictures, here's one of my little guy. Seems like there may have been a MetaFilter baby boom recently.
