Metageist, again.

Argh, it's not a bug. Wrong tag.

Anyway, this one is an example of Metageist being inspired by broadly covered events - in this case, the Olympics.

Coincidences appear in the most unuuuuuuusual of places, don't they?

But . . . but that's impossible!

One minute apart! Love the term too.

grateful, was that supposed to sound like Bugs Bunny inside my head? Because it did.

Apparently, not everyone is wearing their tinfoil hat properly, and the mind control rays are getting through. Tsk, tsk.

Ah, coincidence. I listened to a piece on public radio (WBUR/"Here and Now") this afternoon called 'Beyond Coincidence' [listen - .rm] -- about the new book of the same name.

Are we, in fact, in an Auster novel right now?

So what is the expectation value of this thread, anyway?
posted by hototogisu at 2:27 PM on February 23, 2006

The expectation value is undefined.

Yeah it's unbelievable that BOTH of these posts were made at the SAME TIME..... and during the WINTER OLYMPICS, too!

Oh.

Hey, if you haven't read the linked MeTa thread (which contains a few other examples), you're missing the point. I agree it's not that big a coincidence. It's just one more piece of data for those interested in theorizing about the MetaGeist phenomenon.

I hear ya, Miko. As the referenced "eponysterical" dude, I feel the need to tell you that what you should do is start a page somewhere logging this "phenomenon" for those who are interested. For christ's sake, we don't need a MeTa thread every time an instance takes place. I agree it's a real thing and somewhat interesting, but it happens ALL the time and often under very mundane circumstances. Start a Google Pages page about it and annouce on MeTa that you are accepting submissions. That's all you need to do.

and btw I am soooo far behind on uploading eponysterical submissions it's pathetic. I really suck. Working on it.

Wouldn't the quantum computer be able to answer that question?

How about I create a page on the MeFi wiki?
