Minor problem with ordering posts in MeFi.
posted by NinjaPirate to Bugs at 8:15 AM (9 comments total)

Switching from ordering by date to ordering by "most comments" or "my comments" leaves users unable to switch back. "date" remains selected, which prevents javascript noticing it being selected again and firing the page redraw.

The only way to get back to ordering by date is to go via ordering by "recent comments" which selects the option it should and allows you select what you really want.

Well, clicking the MeFi logo, "Home," or "MetaFilter" in the top nav will reorder the threads by date.

If I can piggyback onto NinjaPirate's complaint, I noticed this morning that there aren't the usual spellcheck, link, bold and italic buttons on the MeTa *thread* posting comment field, and that sometimes when you go to preview, you can't go back to your text to correct it *mdash; you just get a blank field again.

Ninja, it works fine in Firefox--what browser do you use?

Ah. I see. So you do, Gator.
You can put some of them away now.
Swan, I only see two of yours; where are the others?

Also a reason for this - in the problem ordering views, both "date" and "my/most comments" get marked as "selected" in the HTML. My browser (Opera) is choosing the last to be marked. Firefox must be choosing the first.

Only one option gets marked as "selected" in "recent comments" view, so it looks like a simple fix Matt can copy and paste.
