How much do you think 1.24 million comments are worth, on the open market? That's a lot of pageviews..

This is my second stint filling in for someone there. It's just a part-time afternoon thing for the next few days. Mostly it's just reposting interesting things I find in my news feeds.

It's true. 90% of the content on Gizmodo (when I was "there") was stuff I gleaned from my & Joel's OPML file. 5% reader tips, 5% complete and utter bullshit.
Mmm... Gawker.
I do heart Lifehacker, though. Need to get Gina's OPML hotness.

That pizza needs more squid. If only to match the maritime background.
(And, damn, I need to go visit SF again real soon now. I miss that bridge, and that beach. And everything else, even the fog and cold, clammy weather.)

When mathowie finally leaves us, we won't know about it until there's some downtime that starts same as it ever does, but just never ends.
What is the succession plan, Matt? Or does this joint really have a truck-number of 1?
Of course you're irreplaceable - I'm just wondering who we should skewer, in the months following your death, and with our usual collective supportiveness, for handling the whole affair wrong :D

I wish the daily show would do a piece on metafilter and have Ed Helms interview Matt. But in reality it would be Matt pretending to be Ed interview Ed pretending to be Matt. Ed (who is really Matt) would ask weirdly absurd questions about the filter and Matt (who is Ed) would give all sorts of insane and outrageous answers. It'd be great.

But this always cheers me up:
That picture is the key to my zen-like calm in the face of the daunting chaos that is MetaFilter. Whenever one of my half-baked or pitifully doubled posts is deleted I just imagine Matt making that face as he's deleting it, and all is well.
