MeFi Projects FPP loophole March 15, 2006 8:19 PM   Subscribe

This thread thankfully got deleted, but it reveals something I'd consider a bug: someone can make a FPP (from a MeFi Project) on their first day.

That is weird... was the domain always a linkfarm?

I'm guessing it was a legitimate site (it's in his profile), but the domain expired and was automagically replaced with the linkfarm. The project has a number of votes, which suggests it was perhaps a real site at some point in the recent past.

This has got to have expired fairly recently as I visited the DOM drop shadows thing when it was posted, and have visited renegadetourist.com a couple of times since, and it was a legitimate site.

If "brandee" really spent time trolling Projects for soon-to-expire domains to grab and post to MeFi, that's ... enterprising.

It's a bug. I don't even check to see if members have posting rights -- the post to mefi button skipped the age/contributions check. I'll fix it tomorrow.

I remember this site when it came up in AskMe and was later posted in Projects. It was a real site, not a linkfarm. The domain must have expired.

On the subject-

Tags from deleted posts remain in the top tags list in the user profile. I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature.

It could be a good feature if mathowie or jessamyn were to add a "deletedpost" flag to the posts that got deleted. Then, the shame of having made deleted posts will live on in their user profile.
