MeFi Fantasy Baseball! Anyone up for some last-minute shenanigans? I could throw together a free Yahoo 5x5 Roto league if there's enough interest. Draft would probably be Sunday.

I went ahead and set up a free league- draftis set for Friday night, since the season starts on Sunday and our only option then would be Sunday morning (I'm away Saturday).

I'm in! Can we move the draft time earlier or later, though? 3pm is good. 7pm is good. If not, that's cool too.

Sorry, can we make it 2pm? That's my last request, swear.

Oh nevermind - 4pm is fine.

I'll stop commenting now.

I'd like to play - what are the details? Can I enter the ID and password without joining so I can see the rules and schedule?

Is this a manual draft? I'm assuming it is...

You can pre-rank your players and the Interwub Baseball Machine will draft them according to your rankings.

I think we need to orchestrate some sort of World Series between the winner of this pool and the winner of the SpoFi pool.

Excellent idea, I'm in.

Draft is manual, though you can put yourself on auto-pilot. It'll pick for you after 90 seconds, so we're not sitting around all day.

loquax- You can join, then quit, but here's the gist:

Standard 5x5 (HR,R,RBI,SB,ERA/K,W,SV,ERA,WHIP)
Daily lineups, 2-day waivers
Max 1250 Innings pitched

Full offensive lineup- infield, 3 OF, 1 U
3 SP
2 RP
3 P

Trades are vetoed by me, not automatic league majority- I've seen too many acceptable trades sunk because of personal feelings. In almost all cases, I defer to the league, but I want that roadblock in place.

Roster is currently at 8 teams. I'd prefer 10, and the league goes up to 12.

Thank you! I've joined. My fantasy baseball skills are unmatched. Sammy Sosa is still good right?

Let's see if we can get four more to make it a nice 12.

Thanks for putting this together mkultra. I'd thought about doing this but the dearth of answers on the last AskMe fantasy question led me to believe there wasn't much interest in the MeFi community.

Oh, and yes, I *am* buttering you up for future trade negotiations.

I'll trade people my first-round draft pick for their #1 in 2007 as well as a player to be named later.

Thow in Sammy Sosa and you're on!
posted by Fezboy! at 3:52 PM on March 29, 2006

I'm so in.

Also, it's tought to pre-draft with people whom you do not know the affiliations of.

I'm in. You're all going down.

Jays fan here. I will draft Lloyd Moseby, Jesse Barfield and Manuel Lee too high.

Could whomever signed up as "Radicools" drop me a note? Your Yahoo! profile has no email.

The rest of you should have gotten an email from me by now (check your spam filter- mine got caught there, since it's from Yahoo). If I don't hear any objections by 5pm (EST), I'm going to bump up the draft to 4pm tomorrow.
