Projects Color Change April 16, 2006 11:55 PM Subscribe
Oh my goodness. Projects is teal now. Lovely, isn't it?
The red was one of those things where it looked cool visually, but trying to actually read the page was an exercise in aggravation.

No, boo and hiss.
FREE THE RED!
I know the hideous yellow links are a mefi staple, but I'd rather see them go than that brilliant red tone I came to love so quickly then lost so suddenly.
FREE THE RED! FREE THE RED! FREE THE RED!
Ok, bedtime now.

I like it. It makes sense; it is for posts that are not quite blue and not quite green. Seems an obvious choice in retrospect.

"Not quite green"? In what way is Projects even close to Ask MetaFilter? I want to be on record in as many places as possible saying how much I liked the red.

I much prefer the teal. The red upset me. YMMV.

I agree with what delmoi said; I think the page looked rather neat, but gave me a huge headache actually trying to browse. I'm much more likely to poke my head into the projects from time to time now.

I'm kind of torn. I like both background colors. The yellow links on the red background _were_ kind of harsh, but the white text seems a bit more readable on red than on teal.
I'd be fine with either one, actually.

Oh, and for posterity, I think the original red (before it was darkened up) should be preserved at pain.metafilter.com.

I like the teal. The red was sort of BAM IN YOUR FACE YEAH THIS IS PROJECTS WHATCHA GONNA DO ABOUT IT PUNK, while the teal is more "Oh, jolly good. Have a seat and a cup of tea in these lovely and uber-hip Vario teacups, and let me tell you about my new project, if you don't mind."

I thought the 'tweaked' red was better than the first red. I don't mind teal. I like both. But I think, in terms of keeping consistency in MeFi's site lingo, "the teal" sounds clunkier when compared to "the blue", "the green" and "the brown".

Well, given that I wanted to call Projects "TellMe", which Matt poopooed, at least now I can be annoying and refer to it as "TealMe".

Don't bother with those pansy-ass stripes. A flashing background is clearly the way to go.

And the background colour for the header is still red (behind the header images). Although I can't say I think that's going to keep too many people awake at night.

This looks like it's written on a chalkboard. Which is acutally kinda cool. Switch the font to Comic Sans and the look will be complete. ;)

I'm just wondering if the official name for the color is "teal". That is, the main page is called "The Blue" by all the cool kids.. is projects "The Teal" or what?
Also, why not call it MeProjects, which fits better with "mefi", "askmefi" and "metatalk" in addition to having a cute pun on "myprojects".

Because 'MeProjects' sounds like something a pirate with a peg leg would say?

amro - purple? The link colours should follow the same scheme as the other MeFi sites.

Yeah, for some reason win/IE isn't respectin' the CSS. I think it's an ordering issue that I'll fix up today.
