Database server clock error bungling comment sequence April 20, 2006 4:26 PM   Subscribe

Just now in a comment I tried to include a link to a URL which contained a seven-letter word beginning with "f" that has become an epithet for those on the right side of the political spectrum. I tried to post it twice and both times when I hit "post" the screen refreshed but my post didn't show up. Is there some sort of filtration going on? Shouldn't I be told?

There was nothing objectionable in the actual item I was linking to, by the way, IMHO, beyond the use of that "f" word (which I'm afraid to enter here for fear of running into the same filter.

Experiment: the word was "fascist".

Experiment: this was the link that bounced.

Yeah, I just tried (several times) to post something to the Rolling Stone thread, and it works in preview, but hit Post Comment, and the page refreshes without my comment.

I feel your pain, Steve.

I think the timestamps are all messed up.

Whenever you post seems to get stamped with YOUR time zone, so if you're in a thread with a buncha dudes from the east coast, your post will be near the top.

Ah!! So right you are, Fishfucker.

Please forgive me for posting it several times.. Delete as necessarry...

But it does look wierd that I'm quoting something that hasn't been said until later in the thread.

No, the posts are getting inserted into the middle of the page.

Search in the page for the word, and you should see it.

I made two posts in a row and they didn't appear in the thread. I just noticed that they are now in thread but way out sequence. These are the posts: 1 and 2.

I also see that the time stamp further down now indicates two hours ahead in Eastern time. It's 7:31 p.m., not 9:XX p.m.

it is related to the database server clock being off, which I just corrected, and the posts are sorted by time instead of ID. Fixing now (and continue this in the previous thread)
