It's a shame your vacation wasn't longer.

To be fair, the editorializing is a direct quote from the article.

I thought it was an "eh" post but the comments saved it. Who knew that The Albino Code premiered this week?

Just checking to see if the guidelines remain "interpret at will."

And getting hated on by quonsar and cribcage? Priceless.

'Just checking to see if the guidelines remain "interpret at will."'

I think that's why they're guidelines and not rules.

Not even single-link op-eds break the guidelines, though I believe Matt has expressed his displeasure with them.

guideline breaker or not?

Which guideline do you have in mind that could be interpreted to cover this?

wow, this is going to be awesome. ctrl+d to this bitch!

I'm pretty sure one could write two sets of MetaFilter guidelines, one the exact opposite of the other, with both being as close to correct as the other.

Still, that's a cack post with some interesting comments. (Which is distressing - in my version of the MetaFilter guidelines, it's all about the links.)

The tiebreaker with borderline posts is usually the flag queue. This post was flagged once.

A link to 5 freaking paragraphs at a major news site? Lame post. Would've been better if Steven had taken a bit of time to explore the issue just a little for himself, and then presented what he'd found along with the news snippet.

Great links from everyone else, though.

Oops. "Story continues below."

Still, it's a lame post.

I thought it was kind of a lame post, especially Steven's editorializing (calling them "The latest victim group"), considering that they aren't even really complaining THAT much. They said that they're going to use the movie to raise awareness about albinism. I liked mph's comment best :)

As for this MeTa thread? Dude, why not put the link in your post instead of making it the more inside? It's not like your post was exceedingly long and needed to be broken up.
