Have we recovered from the last Scottish meetup to arrange another ?

Unmatched for sheer Debauchery (even by the ny mefi contingent) , hours of gestalt therapy , est and rebirthing workshops have enabled me to recover sufficiently from the last meetup to propose another - hopefully the members who have been under the care of her majestys government since the last meetup may be able to come out on day release (we'll pretend you're weaving baskets for orphans or something): )

Yet again , i also propose the land of Taggart as a venue.

ooh er!

Well I'm in, although I will be in the bonnie land of Nova Zealand from June 24th-July 14thish... (Oh and Len, if you're reading this, a fine job with your piece in this month's Plan B!)

Does "the land of Taggart" mean the BBC Scotland studios?

I'm up for it, but I'm off to France on the 14th, so before then would be good for me.

Since the combined meetup and member-based entertainment event is currently en vogue, how about the Centre for Contemporary Arts on this coming Friday, the 9th? Me and my pal Sister Motivator will be dropping mad science on the ones and twos playing some records one after another. Strictly Gingermaican sounds! Rasta far? Aye!

Ew, I feel like a dirty shill now.

And after re-reading the thread about the last meetup, I just feel dirty.

Could pop up the Art School afterwards again, too, I suppose - the Cotton Cake night is meant to be pretty decent (electro, mostly I think).

Or down to the Arches for Blitzkreig Bop? If the Findo Gask playing live is the Findo Gask I'm thinking of, it could be good (ex-Diskono, of physical remix parties fame - attacking vinyl with knives, hammers, sandpaper, &c.). And your man from Ladytron is DJing there.

I was thinking maybe we could meet at nunraw abbey instead and have a spiritual retreat ?

That or Jacks idea.

Unfortunately a crazy Glasgow jaunt is not in the cards for me this weekend.

Another option could be something like the (free, and cheesy!) Jazz on a Summer's Day on July 30, at Princes Street Gardens... It's early enough that peoples' fringey schedules won't be in gear, the gardens are lovely, and it's of course not far from other pubs/restos/bus/train stations...

I can do Friday after about 10pm, but not July 30. When do you come back from France, jack?
posted by bonaldi at 6:27 AM on June 7, 2006

Also ClanvidHorse is due to come to this one

I'm sure there's a few more Scottish members nowadays, too - bouncebounce, Nugget, fire&wings, brautigan and the cuban have all popped up in Scottish threads with local knowledge (I checked the glasgow tag, in case anyone was worried about me being a stalker)

Will email them later if they don't pop up here...

"member-based entertainment"
:)

When do you come back from France, jack?

24th. Annoyingly coinciding with Marquis' departure for NZ.

Perhaps we could pioneer the 'solo meetup', where we all go out individually on different days and do shout outs to each other.

Or we could do one this Friday (Worries doesn't start until 9 anyway) and another one in Edinburgh in July sometime?

"member-based entertainment"
:)

Hee! I was just trying to avoid saying 'self-promotion', lest I offended any tuba combos/theatre groups/etc.

Count me in, Megabus willing.

When I'm in Scotland this time next year, I'd love to meet up with you guys. Although I'm sure I won't be able to understand a word you're saying. Heck, I don't understand half of what was said in this thread!

Label me tentative at the moment. It all depends on dates and the like. I'm out of commission until I see my physio this weekend (trapped nerve in my spine).

I forget I'm meant to be at Blitzkreig Bop on Friday night anyway, so that all turns out rock.

I'm in croatia end of june till 2 august ! so this friday is sounding appealing , i'm up for DJ BISTO at the CCA .
(matilda , i have no idea what i'm saying half the time either)

Tentative here, too, depending on dates. (can we have it in Dundee next time?)

Totally. I love Dundee.

i'm up for DJ BISTO at the CCA .

Hee. I'll maybe put that on the poster. It's almost as bad as my old name, DJ Glass Of Piss.

Looks like Friday is going to be a micromeet, then, with a bigger one sometime in the future?

Edinburgh in July sounds good to me. Last time I went to Glasgow transport was tricky.

Is the plan then to go to Worries then Arches tomorrow, and have a big old Dundee do in the future?

I'm going to have to work late tomorrow, curses curses at World Cup, so I'm not going to be able to throw shapes in the church of dance listen to Jack's records, but I should make Blitzkreig Bop sometime before midnight.

This is all going to pot - I can't make the Arches, as I have to go to Liverpool first thing in the morning. I'll still be at Worries, though ;-)

Oops, somehow managed to miss this when it was posted. See anyone who's going to be at Worries In The Dance later. And maybe at Blitzkrieg Bop afterwards ...

Top. I'll hopefully see you Len. Sorry to miss Worries Jack.

Dundee in September, then?

Its Tragic ! I'm too skint to come tonight !

Sorry to crash in super late, although it seems I missed nothing. As Bonaldi said (well remembered), I will attend the next meet once everyone is in the country at the same time. Just need to make sure I check Talk as often as the Blue and the Green!
