I'm so sorry I posted this June 26, 2006 10:37 AM Subscribe
I figure it's only a matter of time before someone else posts here about this, so here it is.
I don't really hate the post, it's just sort of lame. Plus the apology.
Anyway, here's a semi-legitimate question: Can people make bad posts in the hope of starting a good discussion (ignoring for the moment that no discussion about GWB has ever avoided partisan wankery). Or is it just about the post?
I would say that if you think it's a bad post (and even say so in the post itself) you might be better off not posting it at all.

Yeah. The "this" in the title of this (MeTa) post refers to the MeTa post, not the original post. What I am is sorry for is that I posted this here on MetaTalk. So, sorry about the confusion.
Actually, I'm not really sorry about bringing it here, as pre-emptively addressing bad-post callouts in the FPP itself is new (I think) and not altogether welcome.

He was being silly. See, donfactor wrote a post apologizing about the writing of the post. But he wrote and posted it nonetheless. So GuyZero wrote his Meta callout as being an apology about the writing of the callout, but he wrote and posted it nonetheless. He isn't really sorry, because the framing was the joke.
Kinda like if someone were to say, in Bart Simpson's voice, "I'm Bart Simpson. Who the hell are you?", they would in fact be saying that they were Bart Simpson, but if pressed, would admit that they were not, in fact, Bart Simpson

Not as ugly as Portugal-Holland. Ick. The not-so-bonito jogo.
L-hat: I don't know, I've lived in BsAs and Berlin both, and I like the Germans in the coming matchup. Those Polish-born strikers are looking awfully strong. In any case, should be a great match and it's sort of a shame these two have to meet so early (as opposed to the Italy-Australia-Switzerland-Ukraine part of the bracket, by far the weakest).
I'd also like to go on record here to say I fully support all fútbol-related derails, especially for ugly threads.
