First-ever Edinburgh Meetup August 18, 2006 1:41 AM Subscribe
Come lads and lasses to the first-ever Edinburgh MeFi Meetup at The Villager (map) on this Sunday, August 20th at 12 noon. New, old, visting, lurking and resident MeFites all welcome. (previously)
Noon?
OK, if anyone makes it to sundown, and if they still sell horrible tall cans of nasty cheap Tennant's Lager with the boobie-girls pictures on the back, could at least one of you drain one, throw it overshoulder, and say 'That one's for Rick'? (I'd ask you to do another and say 'That one's for stav' too, but I admit that that'd be well beyond the call of duty....)
Having a midnight pee and a bit of a spew followed by The Dance of Joy after the chippyvisit on the beach at Portobello would be heavy with significance too, if you go large. Take pictures.

Sorry, didn't mean to erect solipsistic hurdles that nobody's interested in leaping. Ignore my drunken friday night blather and carry on as if I hadn't piddled inthread, please.

Sadly not, they got rid of the ladies in 1991. (I worked for Tennents on a music festival they sponsor once, and did my best to get them to do a promo run of the old cans, but they weren't keen....)

As jack_mo says, sadly not. But the Scottish Brewing Archive, part of the University of Glasgow's Archive collections* has a whole bunch of them – I went there to photograph them for the magazine I used to work for a few years ago. If I find the pics, I'll print them out and roll them up to make new fake Tennents cans for us to chuck around. (Well, I won't, because I'm lazy, but it's the thought etc. ...)

I have seen exactly zero Fringe stuff. I spent oh, about eight or nine years reviewing awful comedy and theatre at the Fringe; not reviewing any of it this year has been absolutely great. (Though I hear Jane Bussmann is very good)

Damn, damn, damn, I was there all last week but am not around this weekend.
Top tip from the various shows I saw - go and see Mark Watson, he is fantastic.
