Why did my post at AskMeFi about iTunes 7 get removed minutes after I posted it?
We need some guidelines on which questions deserve MeTa threads versus which questions should be e-mailed directly to an administrator. I mean, if you're not going to link to your question, and if you're not going to tell us what your question was, then how do you expect the community to help?

Can you include a link or give us an idea of when you posted it? I don't remember seeing it.

I looked back through the last two days of posting, checking all the number gaps in posting numbers, and didn't see anything about iTunes 7.
Could it be that it didn't actually post?

Whoops - It looks like I have accidentally committed a MeTa faux paux! My apologies. I can't provide a link to my post because it doesn't exist - that's the point. I posted it. I saw it there with zero comments. I read someone else's post, then when I went back to the main list of posts mine was gone. I figured some administrator deleted it or something.
Still don't know what happened to it, but maybe I'll just post again. Thanks.

Well, if you can post it again before your seven days are up, then it didn't post the first time. I'm not doubting what you saw, exactly, but I am saying that neither mathowie or I remember removing such a post and a cursory link-number-gap check doesn't show anything there either. Do you rememebr what questions it was before or after? Did this happen right before you posted to MetaTalk?

If your post is "deleted" by an administrator, the thread is (2) closed to new comments and (2) removed from the AskMe front page; but it stays online, along with whatever comments that had been posted before deletion and an explanation from the administrator explaining why it was deleted. "Deleted" is a somewhat misleading term. If your thread had been deleted, it would still exist.

Well, if you check the urls of everything posted on 10/20 like I just did, aside from some juggling message numbers having to do with anonymous posts, there are no gaps. Nothing was deleted from AskMe yesterday.

Hey! I left my ice cubes in the sink, and now there's nothing in there but some water! A fish must've stole them!
With apologies to Bert & Ernie

Nor, for that matter, the loss of your icecubes. That was all Quonsar's fault.

It was a dumb joke meant to confuse a newbie, said by a long-time member. It wasn't helpful, the opposite of helpful actually, so I deleted it.
