I note with happiness that ikkyu2 has quietly returned to AskMe, dispensing the good oil as he goes. Since he doesn't have an email in profile: welcome back.

Always happy to see ikkyu2!

He must have witnessed more avoidable deaths that compelled him to dispense more tough love on the health-related questions.

OH SNAP!!! :D

nudge-nudge, smile-smile, welcome back!

I don't think he ever left, but hey, he dispenses much good advice and many answers on AskMe and here is a big thank you for that.

He did leave for a while. I guess he simmered down though. He's actually been back for some time, I think. I know this was talked about somewhere else in metatalk but I can't remember where.

He left and came back to Wikipedia, too, didn't he? I kinda like that he keeps getting drawn back to communal sites even when they drive him crazy. Shows a good heart. :)

Shows a good heart. :)

I dunno, man, I was thinking more like "ikkyu2, the battered wife of AskMe's health questions."

(seriously, though, it's great to see him back)

many, many answers. the man even knows about cars! My public thanks here.

The beezie is in the garage right now, waiting for me to put in new linkage (it broke, sadly), a new fuel filter (the old glass one managed to crack -- I think the summer was too hot for it, perhaps), and that HEI. Also: body work. But next summer, look out for fishfucker.

The only sizeable gap I see in the last few months was in late July and early August.

Drama = ikkyu2 gets burned out because on the internet, nobody knows you're a neurologist.

I took a couple months off.

I've been answering questions on the internet for a long time; every so often it starts to wear on me. When it seems fun again I come back.

Thanks for the nice words everyone.

The one thing I've always wondered is: who or where is ikkyu1?
posted by deadcowdan at 5:31 AM on October 26, 2006

my most embarassing askme moment was contradicting ikkyu's answer based on half-remembered high-school physics and being completely wrong.

Thanks to ikkyu2, I left my wife, took up with the secretary, my breath is now minty-fresh, I got that raise I was hoping for and my golf game has really improved.

Thanks ikkyu2!

Seriously, you're an asset to the community. Thanks for your help

Ikkyu1

Ikkyu was among the few Zen priests who argued that his enlightenment was deepened by consorting with pavilion girls. He entered brothels wearing his black robes, since for him sexual intercourse was a religious rite.

The plot thickens...

In Rinzai Zen tradition, he is both heretic and saint.

That's pretty cool, right there. My new role model.
