There were vague rumblings about a festive Chicago meet-up (Yes, we have a lot of meet-ups in the city of big shoulders. We need booze to stay warm). Tuesday the 12th at the Duke of Perth has been proposed and seconded.

I may attend...can someone give me directions from downtown? If it's not in the Loop or River North I am lost. And that is exceptionally sad given that I have lived in this area my entire life.

Clark street bus is probably your best bet. Duke of Perth is just north of Diversey on Clark, just shy of where Clark crosses Halsted. The Clark bus drops you right at Surf. The express buses from the Loop all go to at least Belmont (right?), so you'd have to backtrack.

134 la salle express will take you til diversey. 36 broadway & 22 clark buses as above also work.

tripsweb! plots the trip on the state street subway red line or evanston express purple line and get off at wellington or you can take the ravenswood el brown to the diversey stop and walk over.
