Ajax for Projects January 25, 2007 4:13 PM   Subscribe

Projects just got the ajax treatment, and seems to be working great. Try it and see.

How very visually intriguing and completely hypnotic. When you click "vote for it," it says "voting..." and then the number changes to the next digit up. There's a nice little fade-in/fade-out, too. It's quite charming. If anybody needs me, I'll be voting on every single project possible just to initiate the effect. Nice work, Chief.

I enjoyed that almost too much. Worked like a charm.

Ha! I had the same reaction to guy.com.

Snazzy. I'd love to see a long writeup (either at pb's site or yours) about how you went about implementing the new MeFi AJAXy stuff, if it was handrolled or if used a framework (and if so why you went with the one you did), details and hurdles to implementation, all of that. (Then you could put it up as a Project, and the circle would be complete.)

That site almost got my vote until I realized how little Lombardo and his Royal Canadians-related content there really was on there.

it's just prototype and scriptalicious, using standard hooks.

Alrighty, then.

Are the naked plus signs new on the MeTa front page, or are my eyes going a little funny?

When there's one vote the font is much bigger than when there is more than one. Firefox 1.5.0.9 on a mac.

Guy.com? I am so with you on the SRYSLY? quotient.

Like it. Although I do get a vague feeling like I'm tunnelling or something.

So what's wrong with guy.com? Oh I get it. Ya'll are just jealous that we have a three-letter domain...right?

And "YEAHSRSLY."

P.S. Those are me3dia's arms; not mine. And thanks for the votes and stuff. Projects looks nice.

Perhaps I was unclear. Guy.com is TEHHAWT, as are KevinSkomsvold and me3dia, ya little rockstars.

Ya'll are just jealous that we have a three-letter domain

Intensely, you bastards.

Here's the trick: go back to 1996 and decide you should get a domain name. Call your ISP (no, really, get'em on the phone) and ask if your name is available. Then, just for kicks, see if just your first name, Guy, is available. It is, so pay the $35 -- and keep renewing even though you haven't done a thing with it.

Then ask some bloggers to put together a website for you, 10 years after you registered.
???
Profit!

Yep, Guy.com is owned by a guy named Guy.
