Possible FPP for somebody? I don't feel quite up to making a good FPP out of this, nor do I want to "clutter" the Blue with a one-link "newsfilter" item. But I do think that this smacks of an underhanded attempt to restore involuntary servitude, especially given the booming prison population thanks to harsh drugs laws etc. (I also wonder why the damn "farmers" can't simply put Help Wanted ads in the paper; they are willing to pay a decent wage to get their crops tended, right?)
most pointless metatalk post ever.
You don't read MetaTalk often, do you?

Heh, maybe soon we should have a section for people who want to post links but not FPPs. WussFilter?

"the inmates, who volunteer for the work"
from the article
(I also wonder why the damn "farmers" can't simply put Help Wanted ads in the paper; they are willing to pay a decent wage to get their crops tended, right?)
because the work would only last for a week or two and then everyone would be out of a job
this isn't a problem with an easy, legal solution

No, that be a shitty post. Not a good one.
Apparently you are operating under the delusion that Metafitler is a place for your to expose injustice in this world and get people to learn more about the things that you feel are Really Important. It's not. There are other places you can talk truth to power or whatever the hell it is you want to do. But that post, posted for the reasons you suggest, means a bad post.

good lord, this is a poorly thought out article
“Many immigrants are leaving Colorado for other states that will actually embrace their contributions as good citizens and hard workers,” said Julien Ross
um, if they're immigrants, how can they be citizens?
And they are considering whether they want to pay for an urban inmate who could not single out a ripe watermelon
tsk
“What our farm laborers do is a skill. They’re born with it, and they’re good at it."
born with it?
i suggest you do NOT post this
