What's with all the drama loving going on? May 11, 2007 12:05 PM   Subscribe

Annon posts a question asking if a guy likes her. The thread is 4 days old and still open. Annon posts a new question asking the same thing. Why was that allowed?

Huh. That's kind of weird.

Jess is busy, but suggested moving the followup to the existing thread. She read "last week" and took it at face value. Four-day turnaround on anonymous followup questions is definitely pushing it to the breaking point.

Yeah sorry, my bad. Thanks for fixing it cortex.

can i now bitch about all the relationship questions the last week now?

Please make sure you have asked your significant other your question before you Ask MetaFilter. Here are tips for communcating with your loved ones.

no, no it's not.

I don't really think it's either sweet or cute, and anon doesn't really seem to think so either.

Ah-HA! So anonymous is really cortex! I knew it! Wait 'til I don't tell the cabal about this, because they don't exist.

That anon needs a brisk rogering.

Or Styxno does. My My Comments page is full of rude acronyms lately.

It is not really a mystery. The OP's situation is one all mefites can appreciate and comment on. Even the engineers among us can dig a personal interaction problem.
Ok, some engineers.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the relationship questions are skewing younger (or at least seemingly younger)?
posted by drezdn at 1:05 PM on May 11, 2007

Also there is nothing cute about this phrase I am constantly being told that I have a fresh and untouched energy.

This must be what dudes are using as the new "You have such an old soul."

does it seem like the relationship questions are skewing younger (or at least seemingly younger)?

Or maybe the questions are staying the same, and you're the one getting older...

That's the great thing about askme posts

the questions are staying the same, and you're the one getting older...

I am constantly being told that I have a fresh and untouched energy.

Yeah - do people really say that? Constantly? They constantly say that? Has that phrase actually been used to describe a human being? Because it sounds like something I would say about a really nice salad.

4 days? Well hot damn, I'm looking forward to answer these future questions of anon:

May 15, 2007 at 12:30am
zomg! Did he brush against my boob or did he make a move? WHAT NOW? (quick please, I am hiding in the bathroom typing this on my blackberry) More inside! [more inside]

July 4, 2007 at 3:38pm
I've met his mom but she made a weird face... WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Sorry about the length!

July 25, 2007 at 11:16am
My boyfriend says he's tired that it takes me hours to come up with a decision like my previous question: Chinese or Italian? How do I make him understand?
posted by spec80 at 1:13 PM on May 11, 2007 [1 favorite]

This is a great approach! Can you move ALL the relationship questions to that thread?
posted by Kirth Gerson at 1:18 PM on May 11, 2007 [1 favorite]

This is the reason I don't read AskMe.
posted by slogger at 1:19 PM on May 11, 2007

Inspired by spec80's comment, I propose a mashup between askme and twitter.

Now, obsessive questioners can get relationship advice in realtime from the waiting hive mind...

For Example:

7:15PM AM ON DATE: ORDER CHEAP SALAD OR EXPENSIVE STEAK PLEASE HOPE ME?

8:00PM TIP: HIM OR ME?

8:15PM SHOULD I GO BACK TO HIS PLACE?

9:00PM HE WANTS TO WATCH VELVET GOLDMINE, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

11:00PM WHERE CAN I FIND A CAB ON THE EAST SIDE?
posted by drezdn at 1:21 PM on May 11, 2007

the questions are staying the same, and you're the one getting older...

haha this reminds me of BJ Novak's comment about Cadbury creme eggs saying that "No they haven't gotten small, You've just gotten bigger!"

If that was on purpose, kudos.

Reminds me of that line from Dazed and Confused: "That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I keep getting older, they stay the same age."

Drezdn asks - Is it just me, or does it seem like the relationship questions are skewing younger (or at least seemingly younger)?

It could be that mate, or it could be that you are getting older...

I think we could use a little snippet, something like

If you're asking whether or not to ask someone out, the answer is yes.
posted by Citizen Premier at 6:50 PM on May 11, 2007

maybe we need an AskMe Frequently asked relationship questions page. It'll be our AFARQ. Honestly, the answer to should I ask someone out is always yes.

And "break up" is the answer to all the others. AskMe is a cruel mistress.

"AskMe is a cruel mistress."

Yeah, but unlike your wife, she lets you do her in the butt.

Man, AskMe really is JudgeMe often, isn't it?
