Chicago Metafilter Meetup?

I'll be in Chicago at the end of July (27-29) for the BlogHer conferences. Anyone interested in trying to arrange a meetup there? I'll be in the Navy Pier area. Suggestions for possible meetup locations near there?

Plenty of beer gardens to hang out in on Navy Pier that time of year.

Alas, I'll be out of town. Which is just as well, because I am paralyzed with fear at the thought of meeting mefites in person (and their persons meeting me).

Is it only me?

You shouldn't be afraid of meet-ups. Your first meet-up is like your first day in prison. You have to kick somebody's ass right off the bat or no one will respect you. After that just keep your head down and try not to drop the soap.

How about Rock Bottom Brewery? Plenty of different brews to keep the snobby brewery MeFites occupied, and a great rooftop deck if the weather's nice. It's just a few blocks straight west of Navy Pier. I know it's a chain...maybe that's a turn-off.

Define "nice weather." If it's over 80 degrees, my vote is for air conditioning.

ND¢ -- that's kind of what I was afraid of. That would involve, like, confrontation. I'm much better at leaving the passive/aggressive notes. ;)

Now that I've admitted my fear I might actually attend this meetup, if I weren't going to be at ragbrai. Maybe we could have a Mefi ragbrai meetup....
