It'd probably be more useful to start a new one, and Matt was talking about doing just that some time soon. I think we should just wait for that to come around instead of trying to hack the old one open.

Well, there's one complication that the building only holds 100 people, so we might have to throw a quick survey together to get a definitive RSVP list.

I'm not sure right now if 20 people want to go or 2000.

Lemme throw a quick generic surveymonkey thing together and publicize it a bit.

I will certainly put the 14th on my calendar for a mefi meetup. I made it to one before and that was an absurdly drunken experience, although quite fun.

I can also host a person or two at my house I imagine. I'm close to downtown, but I do have a 6 month old baby and that means that morning time comes early, like it or not.

I intend to come. I would like to ride down with someone from the Seattle area, and preferably save money on lodging, perhaps by staying with a Portland mefite, possibly by sharing a hotel room with some other sort of mefite.

We will probably need a backup local bar location too since the capacity of the place is 100 people [blasdelf, it's also 21+ only, you have a convincing fake ID?]. Anyone know one?

We should definitely hammer out the backup-venue stuff in greater detail, but the short of it is that Ground Kontrol is right near the center of the downtown bar-and-club district, and within a quick walk of some less noisy taverns and restaurants and such as well, so managing some flowover to nearby bars and such as necessary shouldn't be too tough.

Though Saturday night will make that a bit more of an effort. Heh.

Give me a couple of days and I'll see if I can come up with a list of backup-venues. Yes, there's a ton of stuff nearby, but it would be nice if people could have some location names to start from if they want to plan satellite mini-meetups.

You just sort of walk around the perimeter of the dance floor glancing hopefully at some of the girls in the middle for a couple hours, hoping they'll for whatever bizarre and arbitrary reason decide to wander out and pay attention to you.
