Upstate NY Meetup? September 12, 2007 9:40 PM   Subscribe

Upstate NY meetup, take two, anyone? I'm thinking a) Ithaca, and b) before winter gets here.

There should be one in Mexico. Y'know, for Días de los Muertos, along with a summer gathering in Florida.

As for Ithica (or even Syracuse), I might drive up on a Saturday. I remember bingo expressed interest, so I might play taxi, so long as a time can be set before mid-October.

Sounds great.

a) I second Ithaca.
b) How about next Saturday (Sept 22)?

I think we should just set a date and a place and do it.

That's it. If any more people from around Ithaca join MetaFilter, I'm retiring my account.

I'm interested. More so if it's in Syracuse but I can probably get to Ithaca for a meetup.

I'm in Ithaca. Sept. 22 works for me. I hope this happens.

Dalek - "Ithaca" - what are ya, one of my downstate relatives who's never read The Odyssey?

Someone suggested Chapter House last time this came up, which sounds like a logical place if it's not too late and crowded, unless people prefer caffeine for their drug, in which case one of the Gimme! Coffees (Cayuga or State St. branches) I suppose.

Sept 22nd sounds good. I'm going to start the bidding with 3 pm at The Chapter House, but other suggestions are very welcome. (warning: flash music on website.)

jinx!

Gimme! coffee is also a good call.

I vote Chappie.

Does anyone else prefer a later time? like 6pm or 8pm? Or is the point to avoid the crowds? I like both chapter house and gimme.

Glad to see someone planning this... I won't be able to make it on the 22nd (previous birthday party drinky commitments). Well, actually, I could make it if it were earlier in the day so that I have time to drive back to Syracuse and make birthday party preparations. So, if it happens earlier, I'll try to be there!

How much earlier, Stef - lunchtime?

It's no big deal... 1ish at Gimme (or maybe the Farmer's Market? that might be super-crowded though?) would be good, but if the majority of folks want to do the Chapter House later in the day, don't change the plans on my account.

The Farmer's Market is fun but now that the semester has begun any time after 11:00 it's a madhouse for parking particularly (and the food lines will be long). Either of the downtown Gimme!s are probably fine. I have to admit I don't know what time the Chapter House opens on Saturday afternoon (zamboni, are you sure it's open at 3?), so I'm of no use in suggesting an earlier meeting time there as an alternative.

Do we have anything resembling a consensus yet?

I'm out completely - too much work to catch up on this weekend... have fun everyone else!

The Chapter House is open 3pm to 1 am on Saturday - I called to check.

OK, I'm calling it for The Chapter House. Would folks prefer 3 or 6?

6pm works better for me --

Settled! Chapter House, 6 pm. See you there! Look for this guy.

I should be there... but I will be late. Maybe half an hour late.
