Mefi/Mecha Fantasy Baseball: who's in?
I'm setting up a Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League, and was wondering if anyone from Metafilter is interested. The Metachat Football version was really fun, so the baseball one should be too.
The league is 36210
pass m3ch4
for those interested in signing up, use the link here (let me know if that link doesn't work).
If we get enough people, I can create an extra league.

Draft is fine by me, signed up as Loquacious_Marmosets.

I'm in. I signed up as Harmonic Timecubes because there was not enough room for "Nature's Only True Harmonic 24-Hour Timecubic Cycle." Looking forward to it!

As I said in Mecha, I'm in. Gaspode's Orioles of course. I'll probably have a better season than my MLB team. Sigh.

As I said in Mecha, I'm in. Box Socials or Box Cutters or Black Boxes or some kind of box thing, I can't remember what. I'll probably be the worst team in the history of fantasy baseball.

They play baseball with mechas? That sounds really cool. (Gives a whole new meaning to "cannonball pitch", don't it?)

That brings back memories of the Nintendo days. Being a team manager is more fun when you can equip your shortstop with a laser arm.

Also, I'm in, and plan to challenge box for the bottom rung on the ladder

I just like to say hammies.

The Steady Rocks are in. Do we actually have to be signed in for the draft, or can it proceed automagically if I rank players? I haven't done Rotisserie Baseball (yeah, I'm old) since the pre-Internet days.

If you rank the players, it'll follow your recommendations and autodraft.

ok, dumb question for which i preemptively apologize: what does this league value? Should I draft for OPS, VORP, etc ... or BA, ERA and those other traditional metrics?

Tamperen Kuuhauki are in it to win it (or more likely, fight for the hotly contested last place).

also, I can't find a link for how many players i should draft or if i need to make sure i have people at all positions, etc. I'm sure there's a comprehensive explanation somewhere, i just haven't found it. please hope me.

I signed up as Indianapolis's favorite infielder, Razor Shines. I'm a complete fantasy sports noob so I expect to do him poor.

I love fantasy baseball. I just traded Elric to the Lankhmar team for Fahfhrd and the Grey Mouser. These are exciting times for Melniboné!

Off topic, I read this while really tired and saw Mecha....as in, you know, Mechs. Took me a second. *sigh* I am a dork.

Given that I won mkultura's league last year, I think that the league set out in this thread is a patently inferior interloper.

I didn't realize there was a limit on the number of teams -- if someone really wants in, I'm happy to back out. MeFi mail me if you'd like a spot in this league.
I hear Fafhrd's power numbers are going to be way down now that he is off the juice.

Except for that Fafhrd part. Who the hell's he?
