MeFi Xbox Gamers March 13, 2008 10:31 AM   Subscribe

Calling all MeFi Xbox360 gamers. I'm going to maintain an Xbox gamertag for us to make it easy to find other Mefites to game with using the Friends of a Friend feature on Live.

First, send a friend request to "MeFi Friends".

Now that you have sent a friend request to MeFi Friends, and been accepted, you are now ready to start using it. Go to your Xbox friends list and look for the gamertag "MeFi Friends". Click on this gamertag. You will see two tabs up top - Gamer Profile and Personal Profile. Select the Personal Profile the click on the 'View Friends'. This will show you a list of all the other people that are also currently on the "MeFi Friends" Friends of Friends list. You can use this list to find all the other MeFites that are currently on Xbox Live, making it much easier to find people to game with.

My GT is "Cruel Wind"

Nifty idea. I don't game online much, and as such have let my gold account expire, but if I renew I'll definitely take advantage of this.

Thanks! I added this information to the XBox Live MeFi Wiki page (and added you and your GT to the list as well! Feel free to remove it if I went too far. )

'Nifty idea' and 'thanks' have both already been said, but I can still second them.

This is a good idea, a centralized account is utilized by a gaming forum I visit to get around the 100 friends hard limit, as well. Seeing as how it's not going to get any easier around here any time soon, I applaud this development.

Done and done!

Man, it's been awhile since I played Halo 3.

Thirding 'Nifty' and 'Thanks' and seconding 'Sweet'.

this is bad ass. if anyone out there wants to play some co-op "Porno Collector Gaiden: Hidden Saber Quest" just hit me up on xbox live.

n'thing everything everybody else says... Pre and Post post.

The only problem I see with this is that the central MeFi gamertag will be limited to 100 friends. If more than that want to join up, we'll have to make a back-up name and have everyone add that account to their list, too. Still, there's less than fifty names on the Wiki list, so it shouldn't be that big of a worry for the time being.

I'm on as SweeterFlounder. Thanks!

Fantastic. I guess I'm going to have to renew my Xbox Live account so that I can kill and get killed among friends.

Sweet, thanks for this, really. I've been looking for people I can reliably game with, since my of my RL friends have Wii's.

If anyone out there is interested in co-op Halo 3 on the super-tough level, pm me.

GTA4 will be epic with all of us on multiplayer.

I'm snackzero and I will beat you so bad in CoD4.

I'm in as JeremiahBritt. I'd prefer the arcade multiplayer, if only because I don't have much of an attention span.

I'm SuperBrian and I will gladly accept your bullets in my face as I cower on many floors in CoD4. (Occasionally I may shoot at you.)

MeFi clan - what a great idea. My gamer tag is Dollar Soup and I'm a COD4-aholic.

Ooooh I didnt even know they had bomberman for the 360! Gotta buy that.

and on not-preview, bDiddy and I clearly are fighting in the same weight class.

phearlez: You want Bomberman: Live, the XBLA game which some folks feel is the best Bomberman version ever. You don't want Bomberman: Act Zero, which some folks feel is among the worst video games ever made.

Thanks box. Now I just need to buy some damned points....
posted by phearlez at 12:52 PM on March 14, 2008

Bomberman looks fun. Do I lose my "gamer cred" if i say I've never played bomberman? I don't know if that's true, honestly. Maybe I played Bomberman 64. Cred returned!

Awesome response guys. Currently 28 people on the list. I'll be playing a lot of COD4 this weekend too.

I'm not really a FPS guy (and I've never played Halo 3, but neither of the first two were to my taste), but I love multiplayer. Is CoD4 worth getting, or should I just wait patiently for GTA and Soul Calibur 4?
posted by box at 3:35 PM on March 14, 2008

I just bought CoD4, and I look forward to letting you all riddle me with bullets this weekend. And Halo 3? I'm there.

"Lodangles" if anybody wants to get low-punched over and over again in Virtua Fighter 5.
posted by GooseOnTheLoose at 12:05 PM on March 15, 2008

I'm on CoD4 as Vic Smackey, and I'm getting to be kinda okay. I play late at night (by New York City standards).

I am so up for this except my 3rd Xbox 360 died on me, got lost , and now I am two and a half months without.

So basically, fuck you Microsoft.
