Is it still possible to get Metafilter shirts? I'm going to some blogging events in the near future (April and then in July), and I would like to look like the cool kid while I'm there.

I don't know about t-shirts, but I know where you can get a whole lotta Metafilter Compilation CDs.

Sorry, I hadn't seen it plugged in awhile and don't want anyone who doesn't have one, especially if they're new here, to forget to buy one. It's for a good cause!

Wasn't there some dust-up/drama/usual snarkiness about the shirts' blue color being less than authentically "MeFi blue?"
Was that ever resolved?

This is almost worth 25 bucks. Should have a design contest, which is easy for me to say because I know nothing about the difficulties involved in such an undertaking. Isn't CafePress a cheaper alternative? Not that I mind paying more if it's for a good cause or bandwidth or, heck, even a wish list for the mods, including Matt.
thinking more along the lines of some nifty quotation on the back, and available in all three colors.

Here is where I renew my call for t-shirts for people with boobs. Crew-necked, straight line t-shirts are terribly unflattering on a well-endowed woman.

But I'm not waiting on Matt to come up with a MeFi hoodie! Gonna knit one myself!

I used to have cafepress stuff, and yes, there were baseball jerseys, but the quality was so-so and I eventually gave up on cafepress because the options were so limited. This was a one-off silkscreen printing run and yeah, they only did one kind of shirt and only in middle-range sizes. And yes, the blue is a bit brighter than the mefi blue, but I searched for two years for a matching color and couldn't find one from any company doing shirt blanks. "Pacific Blue" by Hanes was a common close-ish match that places like Threadless uses. Look at all the user photos here to see how it's kind of brighter than actual mefi blue.

Future shirts will likely be available in American Apparel mens and womens sizes and hopefully up to 2 or 3X.

If there's some way to do it with me only having to paypal Matt (I don't trust the rest of you), I will subsidize up to $10 of the shirt purchase and shipping price for 5 people.

It's worth $50 to increase my odds of seeing a Metafilter shirt in the wild, which would just be too funny.

No, it's important for a variety of reasons that I not actually own a Metafilter shirt, let alone five. That's why I'm limiting my stake to $10 out of $25, to avoid being viewed as the owner of the shirts.

And you can rest assured, Mr. President, that I will wear my shirt in public, as it will go into my normal rotation of T-shirts, including other luminaries, such as: Firefox (black), HL2 (Black), Weber Entrepreneurs Association (Black), Davis High School (White).

Oh, the times my shirt and I will have.

Great idea.

How about a practical Red Pearl Club Long Sleeve Jersey, in an UltraSensor fabric and a mesh back panel wick away moisture and maximize airflow practical way.

In a Tee, Sensor Mini waffle fabric, available in XXL sizes, loose fitting. Or the Slice Jersey, perfect for those who like to put down their heads and hammer. [I've done that here on occasion]

Option for the ladies, a Pearl Izumi Women's MicroSensor Lori Top. Lookit all the features:
* Ultra-soft Sensor fabric transfer moisture
* MicroSensor mesh panels for comfort and ventilation
* 3 part liner bra mixes MicroSensor mesh, MicroSensor Stretch, and plush elastic for comfort during higher impact activities
* Back pocket

What's not to love. For all you marathoners.

I like dawson's idea of having a Metafilter design contest for something like this. With the number of graphics people who hang out here, we could see some really slick final results.

And I would love a MeFi designed Metafilter shirt. (Hell, I would love any Metafilter shirt, so I'll probably end up grabbing one of the Swapmeat ones, but I have fevered dreams in which I wear a customized jersey with my number and nic, where I'm standing on top a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at me.)

Are Chris Knight and I the only ones who have that dream?

Cool at blogger events?

So, here's the thing. (BTW, I went to bed last night with no responses and wake up to all these wonderful ideas for shirts, so thanks, everyone!)

Well, the first one is a...*sigh*..."Mommy Blogger" weekend. I am a Mom, I have a blog, so I fit, technically, that category. I was invited because, despite the fact that no one leaves comments on my blog, I am considered an "influential Mom blogger", whatever that means.

But...I'm a COOL Mom! Honest! I have NEVER talked about the color or consistency of my children's bowel movements or said anything close to "goo goo" at them. I write erotica, for chrissake (Not on the blog, of course...)!

So, yes, a Metafilter shirt would be cool at this gathering. And a lot of the women I have met at these events are fascinating people, who would enjoy Metafilter if they knew about it.

(And then the next blogger thing is BlogHer, in July.)
