This project is offensive beyond the pale for those who worship the Son of God, and who are grateful He gave His life and defeated death.

While people are evidently allowed to broadcast their insensitive and tasteless hate and "humour" like this regarding someone elses faith, I should be allowed to express my view also. And I am. And you've heard it.

No one's claiming there was an actual zombie Jesus. The project falls under what's known as "fiction" and/or, parody. Similar to the infamous cartoons that made thousands of halfwits shoot people and set things on fire.

Religion really is a refuge for the humorless.

Why is this a metatalk post, survivorman? You're welcome to leave feedback, positive or otherwise, on the post itself, which isn't news to you since a quick peek behind the scenes shows you did just that fifteen minutes before you made this post. Beyond that, you can flag a project just like any other post or comment here, you could email the author if you wanted to have an actual conversation about it with them, and if you've got a specific issue that none of the above covers you could drop a note into the contact form to give us a heads up.

Shouting your opinion in Metatalk and then apparently disappearing for a half an hour (so far) right after posting isn't really seeming like a constructive path to take. We can try leaving this open, but it'd be nice to know what exactly you were expecting from the community with this.

While he does list "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" as his group, so he could actually be a pissed off person, the fact that he is also an SEO specialist may also mean he is somehow involved in promoting this with Clay, who signed up just to post this:

Jesus should be nerfed, he's more ridiculous than Superman, with the walking on water, the transmutation of things into other things, curing people of restless legs syndrome, ability to create a rock so huge that even He can't lift it (this last was conclusively proven in the XIII Convocation of Pope St. Pius XII in Ghent), and so forth. Jesus needs an arch-enemy, maybe someone in a red outfit, with some sort of multi-pronged weapon, perhaps...

Also, Jesus should be vulnerable to kryptonite and fart jokes.

That's such a weird way to frame a complaint. I mean, I know they are the tenants of Christianity, but if you don't share them, it sounds like someone is demanding that a satire be suppressed because they offend the crazy: "This project is offensive to those of us who think the moon is a giant breast and worship it as we wait for the coming of its milky earth nourishment."

The little known fact is that Jesus was God's only begotten son, but, he also begot a daughter. Unfortunately, she suffered perinatal brain damage due to a restrictively small maternal (virginal) birth canal and spent the majority of her life in a residential care facility in Wisconsin until her death on January 5, 2005.

The whole post-the-thread-about-how-you-are-offended-and-then-leave routine is very in character. It is indicative of this attitude of "I am right and I am so sure I am right that I don't have to sit here and listen to you tell me I am wrong and there is no point in talking to a bunch of unsaved heathens that are soon to be in hell anyway, so I am just going to let you know what the truth is and you should just accept it and there is no point in discussing it and so I will not discuss it with you." So, lolxtians, when you get mad about how people on the internet give you a hard time and don't treat your personal faith as if it were absolute truth, this is one of the reasons why.

This project is offensive beyond the pale for those who worship the Son of God, and who are grateful He gave His life and defeated death.

Using the language of your own statement, the post is offensive to people who worship the Son of God, but not God himself. While almost every Christian faith makes it a sin to offend God, I don't know of any Christian faith that prohibits offending Christians. In fact, the new testament makes it clear that Christians are to turn the other cheek.

So within the confines of your own belief system, the project you linked to is acceptable, as it only offends Christians, who are given no special protection from offense under the New Testament.

It's perfectly normal, of course, to question one's own beliefs. But please don't use Metafilter as a public forum for your crisis of faith.
