Oh, believe me, I looked and looked through the search results. I just couldn't figure out what was going on! Just a bizarre cultural artifact, looks like.

Seems like I might recall Chris-Kattan-as-David-Lee-Roth ejaculating similar nuggets of scat in an old and not very good SNL skit entitled Hey, Remember the 80's? alongside a half-man, half-goat hybrid portrayed by Jim Breuer at his most annoying.

I'm pretty sure it was a nonsensical phrase that a few people repeated a lot in the early days then it thankfully just died.

Has anyone seen my liver? I swear it was there earlier, next to the spleen and kidneys and stuff.
Sorry, I'm borrowing it. Did you not find the note or did that dissolve in the bathtub full of ice I left you in?
Anyway, it's currently busy helping me turn about 5 liters of cheap grain vodka into pee. It's fine. It's in this bucket with a bunch of tubes hooked up to it. I just daisy-chained it off of my liver.

somehow, it makes total sense to me that livers would be FireWire devices. I wonder what would happen if you ran Mini-DV footage through it or used it as an input for GarageBand...

"pancakes" were funny once, in a comment aaron made. "ponies" were funny a long time ago, and the baby jesus was funny once when someone first used it. Zippity-anything was *never* funny and frankly I don't understand why the hell it's even here, but it reminds me of pointless first posts and natalie portman comments on slashdot.

I think it started off-site, so any real attempt to figure it out is going to be mostly pointless. It was definitely the fault of Dave Adams.
I wish we could say it was part of a general effort to lighten the mood at MetaFilter but it was just people behaving badly. I'd forgotten all about it which is why this account is still active. I'll kill it now.
