Shirt-cockers not welcome. August 8, 2008 3:32 PM   Subscribe

Anyone interested in a meet-up during the big, desert hippy thing?

Complaining about recent threads with strangers would sure beat striking up a conversation with women with painted breasts. I'm just saying.

I am a shirt-cocker and proud of it! Why? Because it keeps the sun off my shoulders and I still have that "feeling of freedom". So I guess I can't meet up with you.

Um, as pointed out recently hereabouts would that be hippies you're talking about? Or pear-shaped persons?

I can't think of worse attire for meeting people from the internet.

Hippies are still trying to ruin the country!

I sincerely hope so, since I'm one of the lefty loonies and I feel so alone in this crimson red state.

Do educate us, Q.

Not going this year. Need a break. Have a blast and make me jealous.

From Homunculus's link:

Just don't vote for them [leftist hippies] in 2008.

There are leftist hippies running for office in 2008?

Like, where, man?

I have a feeling that a few days at Spring Break for Math GeeksBurning Man would turn me into a Republican.

I've seen some Republicans at BM. One camp was a pro-military camo-decorated mini patriotic village. Also, a few years back as we were leaving in the long line, the car in front of ours sported a Bush/Cheney 2004 bumper sticker. Not ironic as far as I could tell.

Homunc, here's the response to your "ruining hippies" link above.

Where else?

Well that didn't go anywhere.

Anywho, I'll be MCing/stage-managing the stage at center camp 11pm-1am Monday, Wednesday, Friday (co-hosting the battle of the marching bands), and after the temple burn from 11pm-7am (fuck me). so stop by and say hi. I'll be the one in the tux.

I know mykescipark already linked it above, but maybe you missed it. There is already a Burning Man meet-up thread, albeit with only slightly better results.

oh, when he said 'previously' I thought that thread was from last year.

...that's a joke, right?

no, I actually thought it was last year, but I'm reading the other thread now. So its irrelevant.

I'm doing fire art again this year. We'll be in the playa about 500 feet from 4:30 and Esplanade. Every night between 10pm and 2am we'll be making exploding Hydrogen Bubbles (much improved over last year) and showing a new piece (PyroCardium) which has 40 flame effects that pulse in time to your heartbeat. If you see a bald guy operating them, that's me. Stop by and say hi.
