Call-outs for everyone! September 4, 2008 9:45 AM   Subscribe

Another AskMe-related shady-answer call out.

Some dude just posted an answer in an Ask thread that had been thoroughly answered with a somewhat irrelevant reply, and used it as sneaky way of spreading the word about an upcoming meet-up. Not cool, "Some dude", not cool.

Or is it? Seriously, how frowned upon is this behavior?

Oh my. I see what you did there.

That answer is a hell of a lot more relevant and useful than many one liners and throw away answers in there. Did you flag it and wait to see what happens?

Ohhh, now I see what you did there too.

So we're reduced to this sort of chicanery in order to drum up interest in one of the more popular and populous cities for Mefi gatherings? I shudder to think what kind of stunt post the Idaho contingent is going to have to pull for their next meetup.

Maybe you should post another MeTa asking if it's ok to have plugged the meet-up in both the AskMe question and this thread. Throw another meet-up link in that thread for bonus points.

Er. I was going to tell whoever made this post that while Grither's comment seemed a little weird (shouting out meetups in AskMe is not really all that cool in general) but that it was couched in what appeared to be a good-faith answer to the thread and so not really deletable.

Fakey-calling-out your own comment as the second in a ninja-meetup-booster 1-2 punch like this is mostly just plain weird though.
