I just noticed in the bitone post that the björk tag breaks, getting a 403 error (The bjork tag is fine). IIRC theres already some handling for special characters, possibly it should also replace accented characters?

And I added the bjork tag. We'll get proper filtering working there.

Unfortunately, international characters in tags just don't work in HTTP requests, so we try and block them from being entered.

Sorry, lazy Sunday and can't remember the pass for the cortex account. But I'll get to work crunching the data on how pb's filtering patch will affect server load vs. site exposure in print mag op eds, and have a pretty graph up on my server in a few minutes.
Got a melody and the chorus all set too, but still working on a bridge.

This was brought up awhile ago. As I and others pointed out, there's no reason international characters can't work in URLs (and so, HTTP requests), since Wikipedia, among others, do it fine. It feels kind of silly to be actively trying to make full Unicode not work just as web browsers start to fully support it. But, I do understand that it's easier to just filter them out.

Interesting - Wikipedia encodes it as Bj%C3%B6rk.

Also - wow, posting something under "bugs" clearly activates the mod pager!
