6 years ago today in Metafilter.
I got suspended for "sexual harassment" for a week after sending that around to some folks at work in spring of 99.
Pretty disappointing, tired, formulaic stuff from the New Yorker.
How delightfully macabre.
The linked page doesn't contain much.
Thank god I can exorcise those demons.
would love to hear it but none of the mp3 links work
SSSHH! Don't interrupt the conversation between y2karl and himself!!
Warning: This file is 66.8MB. Those of you not on a big, fat pipe may want to avoid a long, long wait.
I swear to you, I thought of that first.
Can't anybody just let music happen organically anymore?!?!
The Havel hagiographies are not at all surprising but talking to Czechs (I live in Brno), most of them are pleased to see the back of him.
Not to throw cold water on this admittedly fascinating resource, but it's probably best to take the information gathered here with a grain of salt.
The math link raises it from the workmanlike to the sublime.
I designed it more to look cool than to actually support things.
And I'm a total geek for knowing this.
Yeah, seriously. What is this?
Boy, whichever restaurant this cook ends up with, he'll have a GREAT marketing story.
Why not give it a further shove in that direction, and just get this miserable waiting over with?
Ya know... I coulda swore there was already some semi-official non-joke one already.
Some of them are genius pieces of writing actually. And all for nothing.
I don't know if the carrot and apple thing will work.
Hmm, I do recall a post of mine that was deleted.
it's pretty mean spirited.
Does this theme park include it's own intifada?
Is that Yoko Ono singing the theme song?
to tangent off for a sec, I've been lately listening to the Portland, OR and SeaTac Air Traffic controllers online, providing some bizarre backdrop to my writing and designing late at night.
This is another case in which I'm more interested in MeFites' reactions to an article than I am interested in the article itself.
It would take a whopping big thesaurus for me to find adjectives strong enough to properly describe the sick sort of disgust I feel about this.
why is it when i write about poetry that i come out sounding like some breathless hack?

6rtha: "Is it five years, or six years? Or is time immaterial?"
6, of course. Haven't fully adjusted to 2009 yet.
How immaterial time is will be for each reader to judge.

Heh heh heh... Oh, I remember what I was doing five years ago today in Metafilter on the internets in the library with a candlestick in a message on the door to the chapel with the chalice in the malice with the pestle on the trestle and the moat with the boat. Good times.

It's only three months if you ignore the fact that he's three blind mice.

Duh, ppl: Today is the first day of the rest of your lives. This is the fifth--or sixth--anniversary of that. Now get out there and live.
Or not.
