My Project Is Stuck in Limbo January 31, 2009 8:55 PM Subscribe
Is there something funky going on with the projects?
I announced a project a few days ago, and it hasn't shown up on the projects page. Which by itself wouldn't bother me, but I also didn't get anything saying that my project was being rejected.
Isn't that the way things work?

I wouldn't be surprised if something were mussed up during the recent mefi outage. You could me-mail one of the moderators to find out what really happened, though.

A few days ago, like on the 26th? A few hours' worth of posts and comments were lost to the never that day. But hey, look at the bright side: it's not very often you get to double post and self-link at the same time.

I guess I'd actually have to go there to know what I'm talking about.

Matt mentioned that one in passing, theichibun. The scrouging-for-donations aspect of it was a problem—we generally try to avoid anything like "give me money" on the site, Projects or elsewhere. Matt's the primary Projects ref, though, and he's been in Hawaii on vacation the last couple of weeks, so he may not have had as much time to deal with e.g. auxiliary email followup or whatever than we would otherwise.
I'd suggest dropping him a line for more detail or to discuss re-working the project submission in a non-problematic manner if you'd like.
Projects is, yes, back in action and fully functional as far as I know.

I don't normally email when I don't approve something -- usually people email if they're interested.
Like cortex said, we thought the asking for donations was a bit much. If you can cut that part out and resubmit, we would be more likely to approve it.

There's always something funky going down in the projects.

Wait a minute... Matt's In Hawaii, and there is no talk of a meetup?

Of course there is no talk -- Matt is in Hawaii to get away from the Metafilter. His locations and whereabouts are top secret so he can enjoy at least some time away without having to interact with unwashed Mefi masses like you and me.

Alright, at least I know what's going on now. The rest will be handled through the mail process.
