I have my head up mu culo. I have only just learnt of Blogger.com from todays post by Mr.Howie. I think I will make use of something like this, probably for professional promotion, touting my CV etc. Are there other sites more practial to my application? Any pitfalls i should be aware of?

Well, I don't think you would use Blogger for something permanent, like a CV. Blogger is basically a weblog publisher; unless you have an idea to create a professional weblog, I'm not sure that Blogger (or any of these other weblog publishers) are what you need.

Go to blogger.com and click on the weblogs that have recently been updated. If that's what you'd like your professional site to look like, then yeah -- use Blogger, Greymatter, or Movable Type. They've been discussed here often; so search the archives to get more info about the nuances.

Good luck! (BTW, mathowie's last name isn't really Howie. It's a phonetic spelling of Matt Haughey.)

But of course there's no reason why you shouldn't, if you wanted a simple web-based interface to maintain a single page of html from anywhere you happened to be. Remember, it's your template.
