I'm a tad confused. Do all AskMe's have to involve solvable problems, and not random questions to be answered?

My understanding is that the AskMe community prefers posts to be solvable problems, but they don't always have to be.

I thought it was OKAY for us to throw in a random question, such as the one I made a few weeks ago about prostitutes, which wasn't deleted and the discussion ended pleasantly.

On the other hand I notice that sometimes those type of questions are deleted. I think there needs to be clearer guidelines.

It's because you wouldn't go to prom with me. :(

It's called ChatFilter and you should know better.

Here's the FAQ.
Here are AskMe guidelines!

Yes, questions need to not be random. The FAQ is pretty clear on this. If the FAQ wasn't clear on it, perhaps the many reaons for deletion we've offered with your past questions or the emails we've sent might help. Your question about prostitutes may have been an idle curiosity of yours but it also contained an answerable question that people could say "oh hey I know something about this" or "here's a citation that will explain this"

We don't know anything about your neighbors, you haven't even offered any information about them, you just want us to speculate on why they suddenly seem to have money, mentioning that it's nothing obvious. Add to that the fact that your follow-up comment in that thread made it seem even more like you were just bored and goofing around with AskMe and we decided not to wait for the trainwreck this time.

Don't tease me, sixcolors. I already rented my tux and booked the limo. And I totally look hot in that rented cummerbund.

I can't tell if sixcolors is a troll or stone stupid.

I see where you are coming from but there were similar questions on AskMe that weren't deleted. I clearly remember one post about someone who had a neighbor who had random strangers stopping by at all times of the day/night. That one wasn't deleted. I remember there were tons of speculations about what could be going on in that apartment and it wasn't counted as chatfilter.

Oh thank god. I was on tenterhooks waiting for the latest episode of sixcolors' performance-art-cum-batshit-inanity [not a typo].

sixcolors, why would anybody care about your neighbors without any engaging information, anyway? There's nothing interesting in this question to save its pointlessness.

Well, they obviously have SOME money coming in from SOME where. Hell, I just want to know how/why, maybe I can hop on to the same sudden-money-making-bandwagon.

Maybe they are renting themselves out as prom dates.

They've obviously solved the Trunk Cookies paradox, and they're not about to let the cat out of the pretty cellophane bag now.

I guess you could bring over some trunk cookies - as a neighborly gesture - and ask them.

sixcolors - you are more than welcome to email the moderators via the contact form if you have questions about your posts and what happened to them.

However, this weird-question-deleted-then-immediate-Meta-thread pattern isn't going anywhere useful and again seems like you're just bored and messing around with the site. I'm sorry if the site seems somehow confusing to you and yet at the same time I feel that you're either willfully obtuse about how things work here or have some sort of cognitive issue that we can't help you with in AskMe or MeTa. I'm closing this up.
