American lost my bag for a week once. Pre- 9/11 I was coming home so no allowance to purchase clothes or anything. They found it intact. It had traveled about 6000 extra miles going to Denver, San Fran, back to Miami before arriving in NY. We discussed the issue for a while when I suggested that a fair response would be to give me frequent flier mileage and segment credit for each trip the bag took. They agreed. Got me a free flight that much sooner.

This song sucks by the way.

I hope he keeps putting the screws to them. United is far beyond forgiveness, IMO.

He really should have followed up on his last success with a catchier tune. Wait until United pisses off Steve Earle.

(Sung to "The Devil's Right Hand")

About the time I checked my luggage and my guitar
I saw the baggage handlers actin' mighty bizarre,
Mighty bizarre, like they were on crack,
Throwin' people's bags onto the tarmac
So I asked if they could use a little caution with mine
I got a vintage Fender here that's mighty fine,
Mighty fine, I didn't understand
United Airlines just doesn't give a god damn

Don't give a god damn, don't give a god damn
United Airlines just don't give a god damn

I flew from San Francisco all the way to New York
I wondered if my Strat was totally borked
Totally borked, and I soon found out
Your baggage isn't somethin' United cares about
So then I went and found my guitar on the carousel
I opened up the case and I let out a yell
I let out a yell, I didn't understand
United's baggage handlers have gorilla hands

Don't give a god damn, don't give a god damn
United Airlines just don't give a god damn

Well I got to my concert and I took out my axe
The pick guard was smashed, the neck was full of cracks
Neck was full of cracks, the whammy bar was bent
Right across the body was a big fuckin' dent
I called up United and told them I would sue
They laughed at me and said, "We don't care, fuck you,
We don't care, fuck you, you better understand
United's policy is we don't give a god damn"

Don't give a god damn, don't give a god damn
United Airlines just don't give a god damn

Song 2? That wasn't Song 2. Song 2 would go something like this:

I got my guitar checked
While on a jumbo jet
It wasn't cared for but nothing is
No

When I feel ignored by Delta
And I'm pinned and I'm needled
Well you lie and you wheedle
All of the time I am never sure
Why I need you
Pleased to meet you

I got my guitar done
When I was flown:
"It's not our problem
Just not our problem"

When I feel ignored by Delta
And I'm pinned and I'm needled
Well you lie and you wheedle
All of the time I am never sure
Why I need you
Pleased to meet you

Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Oh, yeah

Apologies to Damon Albarn

By now, this guy's had way more than $1200 worth of free publicity out of this incident. If you ask me he should be paying United. Doubtful anyone would be listening to his terrible songs if they hadn't trashed his shit.

He should be paying United for the privilege of having had his guitar smashed so he could be rightfully upset with them?

Pass me something you value and use to make your income, Peter, I want to make you a star.

It all makes so much sense now.
