I'm unable to comment in Projects September 14, 2009 5:37 PM Subscribe
I can't post a comment to Projects. OSX 10.5.7 Safari 4.0.1 and Firefox 2.0.0.14. The comment previews okay but after hitting post it returns an empty text input box and no comment is posted.
I can comment in MetaTalk (obviously) and MetaFilter. So, I'll try the other steps.

Logging out and in fails to correct the problem.

Network hasn't changed. I'll try a test comment in the latest Project post and link it here so that you can delete it.

The project I'm trying to post a comment in is this one. Can you comment in it?

I can now. The posting code was expecting threads to be closed after one year (like ask), but the comments page didn't get the memo and was still showing the form.
I removed the time limit completely so you should be able to add your comment now. Since the code was out of synch, I'm not sure what our official policy is for archiving Project posts.
Sorry about the hassle.

You are not logged in, either login or create an account to post comments
You might also try logging out and back in, and if that fails try completely clearing out your MetaFilter cookies in both and try logging in again. Sometimes a bad cookie value can cause problems with commenting, though it is odd that something would be off with both browsers.
If several browsers are having problems on the same machine, that can sometimes point to a network problem. Or a problem with anti-virus software, firewall software, or something sitting between your browser and the MeFi servers. (Just throwing out some ideas.)
