I just decided this sounds like a nice week to go to San Francisco. Y'all want to hang out some time between Friday 1/8 and Monday 1/11? My flight arrives around 7 pm Thursday, so that evening would also work.

Ha! I'm going to be over in your neck of the woods* from the 5th to the 12th and was thinking of planning a little meetup there. SF/DC represent!
*I had a great time meeting you and other MeFites in DC back in October!

Jaybeans and I are leaving for a delayed holiday trip to our families in Tennessee on the 12th, so the only day that's especially hard for us in 1/11 as we're difficult travelers who need all the focus we can the night before we go anywhere. Other than that we're easy for what or whenever.

Yeah, I'm just working PRN at the moment and purposefully taking some extra time between real jobs, so my January will be pretty awesome. Vermont's been on my Want to Visit!! list for awhile. Conversely, I unexpectedly realized yesterday afternoon that flights are reasonably priced, I'm cold, and I'm tired of looking at Arlington, thus San Francisco.
I've never been to SF before, so I'm definitely open to suggestions for a location.

Yeah, well, this is the fun part, where we spend umpteen comments deciding where to go. (No Frjtz!!) I'm off to a movie but will ruminate. Downside of the orbit room, as mentioned above, is that it's not very BARTable.

Upside of the Orbit Room is that it's right on Market St., so BART folks are fine if they can hop a F-Market streetcar from Civic Center. Friday sounds good to me.

It's really not a bad walk from, say, the 16th Street BART to that area, either. The last time I did it I think it took about ten minutes.
I would LOVE to be in! I'm kicking myself for being trapped in finals mode for the Afroblanco meetup. Saturday works best for me.

Hmm. This is true about the Orbit Room (not being so far off the beaten track - and we've had meetups at the Edinburgh Castle, which is not on BART either. See why I don't suggest places?).
Maybe we can Officially Meetup on Friday, and then get together (whoever wants to) on Saturday at Writers with Drinks - I think Officially MeetingUp at WWD might be hard because it's not like we can talk much, since people will be reading, and there's no good group area except past the bar, where the readings happen.

Not a dumb question at all. Most of the time you'll just be able to guess but you could always approach a group and ask "Are you friends with Mathowie?" or "Is this Jessamyn's birthday party?"
It's also very likely that someone will be wearing a Mefi shirt.

I look like the pic in my profile. Except 15 years older. With less hairspray. I've yet to pack, so I make no promises regarding the presence or absence of lamé. Perhaps more helpfully, I don't mind mefi mailing my phone number to anyone who's worried about finding us.
