"This guy has quit everything he's ever tried - I don't see him lasting long in this job." March 26, 2010 3:58 PM   Subscribe

Follow up to this post: America's first legal male prostitute has left a rural Nevada brothel after a two-month stint that generated plenty of attention but fewer than 10 paying customers.

Thank you! I was wondering what would happen to this guy and given his original interview I am not surprised.

The world is a better place without "Markus Destin" (horrible prostitute name, really).

Now, deacon, why would you say that? What was he doing that harmed anybody?

I don't see him lasting long in this job.

No wonder it didn't work out.

More like what wasn't he doing!

fewer than 10 paying customers. So that could be ZERO?!

I can only see something like this happening with the likes of Fabio or a younger Alec Baldwin. And even then, only for the name recognition.

The poor guy looks like an inept mouthbreather. If I was a girl I wouldn't want him anywhere near me or my vagina. Ever.

I'm sorry, but this guy acted like he was God's gift to women. Probably not a bad thing to have in his line of work but I don't feel a whole lot of sympathy for this man.

You'd really think the novelty at the very least would be enough to attract customers. Then again, it's not like the legal female prostitution industry is exactly booming. I have to think that breaking the law is a definite part of the attraction.

There was a pretty neat documentary I caught part of a few years ago about a British man who was, er, not sure of the proper term. He never "escorted" anyone anywhere. Anyway, it was a really interesting look at his life, clientele, perspective (and wife's perspective!). Worth tracking down.

That was a job. This seemed more like a gimmick.

Yeah... I don't know what the target demographic was there.

The stunt version, maybe. The Brit I mentioned was this pretty normal looking guy. He had all kinds of business (well, exclusively women clientele), but wasn't setting himself up in some Best Little Whorehouse in Texas fantasy. Just a working stiff. (heh)

Who would have thought. Paying for something you can find literally anywhere, for free, didn't pan out as a business decision. Wonders may never cease.

Are you talking about male prostitution or the record industry?

Maybe *now* dudes will finally see that "Midnight Cowboy" is actually a documentary.

fewer than 10 paying customers... all of them journalists, all of them with the will-they-have sex angle in their story, none of them actually doing it.

Well, that'll learn ya to solicit women only.

BTW, just as a rule of thumb - if you are reading an article on sex work of some kind and it implies that the author may have sex at some point of the article as part of their investigations - they won't.

You aren't paying for the sex, you're paying for the right to have someone leave when you've finished.

You'd think they'd pay him more then.

I dunno, just telling them, "Thanks, now put on your pants and get out" should usually work pretty well without any cash changing hands.

why go out for hamburger when you are constantly being harassed by hot dog vendors?

The difference is that with a prostitute you have to pay extra if you want them to cry, shout, call you names, and randomly break valuable objects.

Am I right in thinking that the article originally had a close-up of this guy, replete with a set of gnashers that kind of looked like shark's teeth? It's not in the article anymore, I wonder if they pulled it.

stinkycheese, the picture you're referring to is still in this article, at least on my side.

Oh right, you just have to hit 'more pictures' link. It is there.

After hiring Markus, the Davises cut him off from speaking with reporters after his first two interviews, in which he compared himself with Rosa Parks and Mahatma Gandhi.

He does seem to have a sense of humor...

He remained listed under the name "Markus Destin" by adult talent agency OC Modeling.
OC Modeling, you say?
