Bummer, I am going to miss the butt meetup in butt at butt o'clock staring our favorite user butt.

Did a six year old fill this out for me?

I'm confused. Your website says the farm is in Washington. Why is the meetup in Vermont?

Not that it matters, I'm in Utah. I'm just confused now.
posted by TooFewShoes at 1:59 PM on June 4, 2010

Perhaps terrapin meant to link to his farm's ACTUAL website. (Or perhaps he is fucking with us.)

Yay, Biscuits! Let's meet up on fire in severe weather conditions. Unless others have objections, I propose we go to sleep. Mostly, I suspect we will farm cats or wallpaper a bathroom. But if enough people make it perhaps we can watch a bunch of Deep Space 9.

Amusingly, I'm actually in Williston now. I walked into the rest stop to get some coffee and a guy sitting in a chair said "Let me guess where you're from .... Connecticut!" so now I want to go burn these pants and get a facial tattoo. Is Uranus in town long enough so that I could maybe see him when I get back on Sunday?

I think this is going to not end well, y'all.
Yay, Anonymous ask me questioners! Let's meet up on a conversion therapy retreat in fedoras. Unless others have objections, I propose we go to a cat declawing museum. Mostly, I suspect we will spank our children or write eat food that has been sitting out overnight. But if enough people make it perhaps we can just discuss if people who eat fish are "real" vegetarians.

I just clicked on the link to your farm and the cute sheep pictures came up and from across the room my wife let out a big "Oohhh!!! Can we go? Does he have a place for us to stay?"
As much as I'd love the idea, Vermont is a hell of a drive from Toronto for the weekend.

Crockpot meatball recipe, made with tasty meatballs, pineapple, bell pepper, and a sweet and sour sauce.
Ingredients:

* 1 pound ground chuck or round
* 1 egg, slightly beaten
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon pepper
* 2 tablespoons fine plain breadcrumbs or corn flake crumbs
* 2 teaspoons soy sauce, low sodium
* 2 tablespoons grated or finely minced onion
* 1 tablespoon cooking oil
* Sauce
* 3 tablespoons vinegar
* 3 tablespoons cornstarch
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 tablespoon soy sauce, low sodium
* 1 large sweet bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
* hot cooked rice
* 1 can pineapple, chunks (15 ounces)

Preparation:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, bread crumbs, and onion. Shape into 1 1/2 in balls. In a large skillet, lightly brown meatballs in the vegetable oil. Drain well. Transfer meatballs to slow cooker.

In a small bowl, combine vinegar, sugar, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch and bell pepper; stir to blend. Pour over meatballs. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 7 hours. And then I click on MetaTalk tonight and, frankly, I think you guys are showing off.

If the source of sartorial criticism is a guy hanging out at a rest stop, you can generally safely ignore it.

“Rats!” from me as well. I have long wanted to visit Terrapin Station... Gardens, that magical place where the seasons seem to pass in minutes. (I didn't believe it either, but then I saw the video.) This Friday, though, I am already overbooked — I'm skipping out early on the Slow Money national gathering, which I'm supposed to be covering, to go into downtown Burlington and watch Sonny Rollins get interviewed at the Jazz Festival. (Don't tell my wife, who thinks I will be home packing, since we're leaving for the summer in Maine on Sunday.)

Anyway, my best to the sheep, and I still hope to get over that way sometime.

posted by jessamyn (staff) at 10:27 AM on June 10, 2010

Grill will be out and open for use. I'll have some beer. If I have time I'll pick up some snacks.
posted by terrapin at 10:31 AM on June 10, 2010

I'll be home all day with the exception of a quick run for snacks and beer -- and maybe meat. I'll be watching the World Cup and pottering around the house trying to make it look acceptable without the assistance of turtlegirl who will still be in Disneyfornia; which is a big reason why I won't be attempting to roll out a spread of food this time. Uruguay/France starts at 2:30pm if you want to watch football/soccer with me. If not, come on by anytime after 4:30.

Also, I think an outdoor fire is in order. Weather looks like it will be sunny and in the 70s and the next rain will hold off until after midnight.
posted by terrapin at 10:53 AM on June 10, 2010

I picked up some local ground beef, some Fenway Franks, some rolls, some chips and some beer. Oh and a pineapple I plan to soak in maple syrup and cinnamon like last summer before grilling it. So unless I eat it all watching the World Cup, there will be food. From what I can see, it looks like it will be me, uranus, jessamyn and bookrach, so I should have enough for you lot.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
