It's just like New York without all the noise September 6, 2010 2:11 PM   Subscribe

The thread for people in Toronto (and elsewhere) to complain about people in Toronto complaining about the airshow...inspired by this thread.

Toronto, more than any other city I've heard of or been to, is so cloyingly desperate to be recognized as "world-class" by the rest of the world. I've known practically since birth about the CN Tower, was told about the marvels of the Skydome upon its construction, and have long known the myth about Yonge Street's length...and I grew up in Ottawa.

Yet despite all this fretting and bragging, the citizens of this city get positively apoplectic three days a year when the CNE air show comes to town. Perhaps nobody told them that world-class cities get noisy once in a while.

Everything I needed to know about Toronto, I learned from the Scott Pilgrim series.

...and yet I never felt the need to read the Scott Pilgrim series. Huh.

Not sure this has anything to do with Metafilter. Feels more like a thing-for-your-blog sort of situation.
